HeroQuest Digital Edition Release Date, Platforms, Co-op and Features

HeroQuest Digital Edition release date

HeroQuest Digital Edition release date is still listed as coming soon by developer Nomad Games and publisher Balor Games, following the game’s announcement in October 2026. The official adaptation of Hasbro’s classic dungeon-crawling board game is heading to PC through Steam, with online co-op, turn-based battles and a Quest Editor.

For anyone who remembers moving plastic heroes across the original board and rolling dice against Zargon’s monsters, the new game promises a familiar adventure with a digital twist. Here’s what the developers have confirmed about the release, how multiplayer will work and what you’ll be able to do in the dungeon.

When is the HeroQuest Digital Edition release date?

Nomad Games officially announced HeroQuest: Digital Edition on 16 October 2026. The Steam product page currently displays Coming soon, while publisher Balor Games lists the release date as TBD. Neither official listing supplies a specific day or month.

The HeroQuest Digital Edition release date is still marked TBD. You can wishlist the game on Steam for future launch announcements.

While the HeroQuest Digital Edition release date remains open, the next milestone is a planned playtest programme. Nomad says fans can follow its official channels for closed playtests, and Balor’s game page has a dedicated playtest signup link.

What platforms is HeroQuest Digital Edition coming to?

For the HeroQuest Digital Edition release date and platforms, Windows PC via Steam is currently confirmed. Nomad Games and Balor Games haven’t announced console versions.

There is no confirmed PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 launch date. The existence of other HeroQuest games and digital board-game adaptations on consoles doesn’t establish plans for this particular release.

Steam currently lists Windows 10/11 as the minimum operating system and DirectX 12 as the graphics API requirement. Publisher Balor’s own minimum-spec table names Windows 11, so Windows users should keep an eye on compatibility details as release approaches.

What is HeroQuest Digital Edition?

In a quest, the heroes explore the dungeon one turn at a time, deciding how to move, fight and use abilities before rolling for outcomes. The Dwarf is the party’s trap specialist, the Barbarian brings fighting strength, the Wizard manages magic and the Elf supports the group. If another player takes Zargon, that person controls the dungeon’s opposition. These are the familiar HeroQuest roles reproduced in the digital adaptation.

HeroQuest: Digital Edition turns the tabletop dungeon crawler into a tactical, turn-based RPG. The evil sorcerer Zargon threatens the Realm, and four heroes must explore dangerous dungeons, defeat monsters and search for treasures using dice-driven combat.

The playable party consists of the Barbarian, Dwarf, Elf and Wizard. Each has a different role: the Barbarian can help push through enemy defences, the Dwarf looks for traps, the Wizard brings magic and the Elf can support the team in battle. How you position the characters and combine their actions is central to the experience.

Nomad is making the game with Hasbro and Balor Games as an officially licensed adaptation. That matters for longtime tabletop fans who want to recognise the original game’s dungeon-crawling premise rather than a loosely inspired imitation.

Does HeroQuest Digital Edition have multiplayer?

Yes. HeroQuest Digital Edition includes online co-op for a party of up to four hero players, or you can manage the group yourself in a solo session. The Steam description also allows one person to take the role of Zargon, setting traps and commanding the dungeon’s monsters against the heroes.

That means the design supports a familiar board-game dynamic: one side exploring the dungeon together, with someone controlling the opposition if the group wants that experience. The four named hero classes give players separate jobs to consider, from dealing damage to checking dangerous areas.

The official Steam page lists online co-op and single-player features. It doesn’t identify a shared-screen couch co-op mode in the public feature listing.

Quest Editor, custom adventures and mod.io

While we await the HeroQuest Digital Edition release date, one feature that could give the game a particularly long life is its Quest Editor. Nomad and Balor say players will be able to create their own quests, while built-in mod.io integration will let them explore adventures made by other players.

It’s a natural fit for HeroQuest, where finding a fresh dungeon for your regular group has always been part of the appeal. A creator might build a shorter encounter for beginners or something far more demanding for experienced heroes.

The confirmed features are creating custom quests and exploring community-made adventures using mod.io. The full editor interface has not yet been shown.

What PC specifications do you need?

Ahead of the HeroQuest Digital Edition release date, Steam lists a 64-bit Windows system, Intel Core i3 from the tenth generation or AMD Ryzen 3 from the 3000 series, 16 GB RAM and a GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 550 as minimum hardware. It specifies 10 GB of storage and DirectX 12.

The HeroQuest Digital Edition release date is still pending, but its recommended configuration increases the RAM requirement to 32 GB, with the same CPU and GPU examples. That is unusually high memory for what might look like a straightforward board-game adaptation, so make sure to check the actual requirements rather than judging by the visual style.

The recommended hardware list doesn’t promise a particular frame rate or resolution, and pre-release requirements can change before launch. The developer and publisher listings remain the best places to check for revisions.

How to join the upcoming playtest

Before the HeroQuest Digital Edition release date, Balor Games offers a Sign Up to Playtest option on its official HeroQuest page, and Nomad Games recommends following the game’s website and Discord for closed-playtest announcements. Following the HeroQuest Digital Edition release date updates or registering your interest isn’t the same as receiving an immediate key or guaranteed access.

If you’d like to be among the first to enter the dungeon, visit Balor Games’ official HeroQuest page and use the playtest signup option, then follow the instructions provided by the publisher.
