You don’t need to equip a special Toon or spend Pumpkins to knock. Still, choose your moment carefully: a bad effect near a Twisted or with only one heart remaining can be far more costly than the potential Treat.

The most dangerous Tricks are usually item theft, extra machines and the rolling pumpkin. A jumpscare can look as though you’ve lost health when you haven’t, but SCATTER! really can deal damage. If you’re carrying an important healing item, opening a door is a genuine risk.

Pumpkin Patch is useful when you’re trying to afford a Halloween Toon, while You’re Welcome can remove a machine from a difficult level. Treats aren’t necessarily equal in value, but any of them can save time or resources when the group is already under pressure.
Dandy’s World Trick or Treat Doors: Can You Predict a Trick or Treat?
Not reliably. The coloured room behind a door can help identify an animation once the interaction starts, but you cannot choose a result in advance. Gigi’s item theft is unavoidable when you have an item, and the SCATTER! pumpkin should be avoided rather than fought.
If the pumpkin appears, start moving. It bursts after a short time or on contact and drops candy, but colliding with it costs health. For Dizzy Dance, slow down until you understand the changed controls. Running blindly while your view is reversed can send you directly into a Twisted.

During Haunted Gala, more doors may appear while your mask changes your stats and abilities. Check what your Toon can currently do before opening a door. An unexpected Blackout is more difficult when your usual escape ability has also been replaced.

No. It’s worth trying nearby doors when the team is comfortable, but not at the expense of a successful floor. Someone holding a rare item or running low on health has much more to lose than a teammate with empty inventory and a clear route to the elevator.
