Dandy’s World Soulvester Rework replaces his old defensive passive with Soul Shield, an active ability that lets him sacrifice a heart to protect another Toon. If the guarded player is attacked, Soulvester teleports in, blocks the damage and briefly stuns the Twisted. It’s a powerful rescue mechanic, but using it thoughtlessly can leave Soulvester in serious danger himself.
The October 2026 Halloween update introduced the change while returning Soulvester to Gourdy’s Store. His strengths and weaknesses haven’t disappeared: he’s a superb machine extractor with very poor movement stats. The new ability makes him a more interesting support character, provided you understand what protection costs and how the speed boosts work.
Dandy’s World Soulvester Rework: Soul Shield Explained
Use Soul Shield to guard one teammate, spending one of Soulvester’s hearts. That Toon receives a Guarded status, and Soulvester gains GuardStance I while the protection is active. If a Twisted hits the guarded Toon, Soulvester teleports to intercept the blow, prevents the damage and stuns the attacker for an additional 1.5 seconds.
His guarded target stays highlighted, which helps him monitor where they are. Soul Shield is not a free shield: the heart is spent when you activate the protection, so you need to choose someone whose survival is worth the cost. You cannot protect multiple teammates simultaneously.
Dandy’s World Soulvester Rework: Speed Buffs and Timing
| Status | Effect |
|---|---|
| GuardStance I | While guarding, movement improves by one star; walk speed 12.5, sprint speed 22.5 |
| Successful block | Twisted stunned for 1.5 seconds beyond its attack cooldown |
| GuardBurst | Three-star movement boost for 2 seconds after defending; walk 17.5, sprint 27.5 |
| Untargetable | After a successful defence, Soulvester is untargetable for 3 seconds |
Those boosts are brief windows to escape, not permanent upgrades to his movement stats. Use the post-block burst to get out of danger or return towards the elevator. The teleport can also move him far away from a machine he was extracting, so be prepared to change your plan.

Dandy’s World Soulvester Rework: How to Protect a Teammate
Pick a Toon who is likely to be attacked or whose role is important to the group, such as a distractor or healer. Activate Soul Shield while you have enough health to afford the cost. The guarded player gets an indicator, and Soulvester can monitor whether that player is in a chase through the ability UI.
When an attack lands, protection triggers automatically. Soulvester blocks the hit and appears near the guarded teammate. Take advantage of the Twisted’s stun to escape together, rather than staying still while the next attack comes. If another Soulvester is already guarding that Toon, you cannot stack a second protection on the same target.
Dandy’s World Soulvester Rework: Does Soul Shield Refund Hearts?
Normally, spending a heart on protection is a real cost. If you change your mind or the guarded player leaves the game, switching targets does not automatically refund that health. When Soulvester falls to one heart, he cannot keep sacrificing hearts to activate the guard again.
During the Halloween Haunted Gala, a Soulvester mask has a special interaction that may return the spent heart if the guarded teammate takes no damage before reaching the elevator. Don’t assume that special mask behaviour applies to ordinary Soulvester runs. The Haunted Gala guide explains the mask separately.
Dandy’s World Soulvester Rework: Best Teammates and Trinkets
Healers are valuable partners because they can help Soulvester recover after protecting others. Faster teammates can also lead Twisteds away while he uses his excellent extraction stats. Pink Bow or other movement-boosting trinkets compensate for his extremely low base movement and stamina. Soul Sword can be useful when you want a larger health buffer for guarding.
For ordinary extraction-focused runs, keep a mobility item ready rather than investing everything in even faster machine work. Soulvester already has five-star Skill Check and Extraction Speed. His one-star Movement Speed and Stamina are the weaknesses that most often turn a rescue into a failed escape.

Dandy’s World Soulvester Rework: How to Unlock Soulvester
Soulvester is a returning Halloween Toon sold by Gourdy’s Store for 700 Pumpkins. You also need 50% research on Twisted Soulvester. Purchasing the Toon during the Halloween event grants access to his current reworked ability; there is no separate Soul Shield skin or premium upgrade to buy.
Collect Pumpkin pickups and complete machines to earn currency, then progress the required Twisted research. See our Pumpkin farming guide for exact payouts, double-weekend bonuses and practical ways to reach the 700-Pumpkin requirement.
Dandy’s World Soulvester Rework: Common Mistakes
Don’t spend your last useful heart protecting someone who isn’t being chased. Avoid guarding targets who are likely to abandon the run, and remember that the teleport changes your position if the protection triggers. It can even move you away from the elevator at a dangerous moment, so plan for where you’ll land.
Most importantly, remember that the rework makes Soulvester a support character without removing his extraction role. Protect someone who needs saving, use the stun and burst to survive, then return to your machines. The Dandy’s World Soulvester Rework rewards good timing much more than repeatedly activating the ability whenever it’s available.
