Warframe Icebind Side Objectives: How to Complete All Five and Earn Keys

Warframe Icebind 6 player

Warframe Icebind Side Objectives can award up to three extra Frozen Keys in every six-player Icebind mission. Five different challenges can appear: Lockbox, Cryothermia, Indomitable Ice, Entropy Orb and Signal Chain. Each has its own mechanic, and failing any side objective after activating it fails the whole run, not just that optional challenge.

These are worth learning before someone presses Start. Lockbox needs Cyphers and proper positioning, Cryothermia damages its carrier, and Signal Chain needs all six Warframes to link two points. The October 8 hotfix also changed Cryothermia, so older advice about throwing the Core is no longer correct.

How to start Warframe Icebind Side Objectives safely

Watch for purple waypoints during The Icebind. Gather the needed squad members at the marker, then press Start to activate the timed task. Merely seeing the waypoint doesn’t commit you to anything. Once active, a failed task ends the mission, but automatic extraction pauses while that task is underway.

Check how your team is handling the current Binds before accepting more risk. Completing the main mission still guarantees a Crested Frozen Key and Riven Splicer even if you skip every optional task.

Warframe Icebind Side Objectives: Lockbox

Kill nearby enemies to obtain Cyphers, then gather at the marked Lockbox. Players report that all six teammates must carry a Cypher and remain close to the box while the progress bar fills. Changing to some weapons can cause a Cypher to drop, interrupting the interaction.

If progress stops, count the carriers and check everyone’s distance from the box. Don’t split up to chase kills once the team has gathered the required Cyphers. The objective needs a coordinated hold, not just a high enemy kill count.

Warframe Icebind Side Objectives: Cryothermia

Pick up the Cryo Core and hold it to fill the objective meter. The longer you carry it, the more damage it inflicts on your health. Rotate carriers when necessary, with teammates ready to heal and protect the person holding it.

Hotfix 44.1.1 removed the ability to throw the Core because throwing could cause loss-of-function bugs. Avoid older guides recommending that method. Player reports also warn that switching to Operator can drop the Core.

Warframe Icebind Side Objectives: Indomitable Ice

Find the four ice crystals marked for the task and charge them with sustained weapon fire. Focus on whatever hasn’t fully charged rather than fighting enemies away from the objective. The challenge completes when the marked crystals have received enough concentrated fire.

Area damage can sometimes hit several targets, according to community tests, but you should still watch each crystal’s progress. A heavy weapon won’t help if the team is shooting at the wrong part of the room.

Warframe Icebind Side Objectives: Entropy Orb

Stand near the Entropy Orb to build progress while avoiding its damaging pulses. Players identify blue floor segments as safe areas and red flashing segments as hazardous. Move to the safe section when the effect changes rather than attempting to endure every pulse.

The October 8 hotfix adjusted the orb’s damaging-zone visuals. Defensive abilities and healing can buy time, but keeping the team in the correct safe zone is the core mechanic.

Warframe Icebind Side Objectives: Signal Chain

Connect the two marked points by positioning Warframes in a line so the energy tether passes between teammates. Spread along the route with enough players in reach to form one uninterrupted chain. If progress stops, check for a gap, poor line of sight or a player who’s wandered beyond the tether’s range.

The layout can make this harder when the endpoints sit on different levels or beyond a doorway. Agree on positions before starting, then avoid sudden movement once the chain is working. The October 8 hotfix also addressed scripting errors in Signal Chain.

How many Frozen Keys can Warframe Icebind Side Objectives earn?

Up to three optional objectives can be completed in one Icebind mission. Each successful one awards a regular Frozen Key, used at the outer chests in Melica’s Glacial Laboratory. The centre chest uses the Crested Frozen Key earned from the main mission.

A teammate who’s been dead for three minutes can miss keys awarded while they’re dead. Revive fallen players at their Tombstones before tackling another optional challenge. Our Frozen Keys reward guide explains the loot tables.

What changed for Warframe Icebind Side Objectives in Hotfix 44.1.1?

Alongside the Cryo Core change, Digital Extremes fixed issues with objectives appearing inside Orokin Vaults, side-objective enemy spawns after the main task was complete, and scripts affecting Entropy Orb and Signal Chain. These fixes are included in the October 8 update.

If a Warframe Icebind Side Objectives progress bar appears stuck, check the actual requirements before treating it as a bug: Lockbox needs everyone holding a Cypher, Signal Chain needs a continuous link, and Entropy Orb needs players gathered close enough while avoiding damage.

The reward is an extra chest, but the cost of a mistake is an entire run. Decide as a squad whether to attempt all three objectives, especially when you’re already having trouble surviving the main mission.
