Warframe Riven Splicing combines two compatible stats on a single Riven Mod into one Spliced Trait. It arrived in Update 44.1 on October 7, 2026, alongside The Icebind. Each successful Icebind mission awards a Riven Splicer, the item needed to make a combination in your Orbiter’s Mod Segment.
You don’t need two separate Rivens. The new stat comes from two traits already on one unveiled Riven, and you can only choose combinations supported by its existing rolls. It’s a different tool from Trait Locking, which protects a chosen stat while cycling a mod. Here’s how to use Splicing without burning resources on the wrong Riven.
How to unlock Warframe Riven Splicing
Start by getting access to The Icebind. Complete Angels of the Zariman and Whispers in the Walls, and unlock either Elite Temporal Archimedea or Elite Deep Archimedea. You don’t have to clear an Elite mission just to meet that unlock condition.
Collect a Cryobell at Yuvan Peak and speak to Cephalon Melica to prepare an Icebind squad. These missions are designed for six Tenno, with no public matchmaking at launch and no duplicate Warframes. Completing a mission successfully gives one guaranteed Riven Splicer, plus a Crested Frozen Key for the post-mission reward room.

How to use Warframe Riven Splicing on a Riven Mod
Open the Mod Segment and enter the Riven Splicing interface. Select an eligible unveiled Riven, choose a highlighted pair of compatible traits and inspect the resulting Spliced Trait. Confirm the operation when you’re ready to spend a Riven Splicer.
For example, a Riven with Heat and Cold can combine them into a Blast Damage trait. The menu won’t let you choose arbitrary effects that aren’t supported by your existing Riven stats. Check the combined result before committing, especially if your build depends on having separate elemental stats.
Once you’ve used Warframe Riven Splicing, the mod carries the selected combined trait. If you have several valuable Rivens, inspect them individually rather than assuming they’ll all offer the same pairs. Two Rivens for different weapons may have very different useful combinations.
Warframe Riven Splicing vs Riven Trait Locking
Trait Locking preserves one stat while the other stats are rerolled, at an increased Kuva cost. Warframe Riven Splicing is a separate operation that combines two stats already present on the same Riven, using a Splicer. Locking is useful when you have one stat you want to keep while searching for better rolls; Splicing becomes relevant when two existing stats create a result you actually want.
You can spend a lot of Kuva chasing the right traits, so decide what the weapon needs before you begin. If a Riven lacks a compatible pair, simply owning a Splicer won’t create one. Look at the weapon’s elemental setup and the traits displayed in the menu instead of chasing a combination that wouldn’t help the build.

Warframe Riven Splicing Weak Point Damage not working: Hotfix 44.1.1
If you made a Weak Point Damage Spliced Trait through Warframe Riven Splicing at launch and noticed that hits on enemy weak points weren’t dealing the expected extra damage, you weren’t imagining it. Digital Extremes confirmed that the bonus from this specific Spliced Trait wasn’t being applied. Hotfix 44.1.1 on October 8, 2026 fixed the problem.
With the hotfix installed, Weak Point Damage should work as intended. Make sure your Riven actually has Weak Point Damage rather than the separate Weak Point Critical Chance Spliced Trait, then test hits on a suitable enemy weak point. You shouldn’t need to remove and recreate a Spliced Trait just because it was made before the fix. If damage still seems wrong, confirm you’re on the updated game version before reporting a new issue.
Warframe Riven Splicing double Kuva cost: what was fixed?
Another launch bug made Rivens with Spliced Traits consume twice the intended Kuva when Cycled. Digital Extremes explained that the Cycling screen could show the normal price while the extra Kuva was still deducted behind the scenes. The October 8 hotfix corrected this. A Spliced Trait stays protected during Cycling, but its built-in protection should not, by itself, double the Kuva cost.
That is different from temporary Trait Locking. If you manually lock another stat while cycling the Riven, the separate Trait Locking surcharge still applies and doubles the normal Kuva price. That charge is intentional. For example, a Riven with a Spliced Trait and one additional, manually locked stat can still cost twice as much to Cycle. Only the unintended surcharge caused by the Spliced Trait itself was fixed.
Did Digital Extremes refund the extra Kuva?
Yes, Digital Extremes has confirmed that its refund script ran. The October 8 patch notes initially promised a script for affected players. In an official forum update on October 9 at 2:15pm ET, [DE]Taylor confirmed that the script had completed across all platforms and that players should see refunded Kuva through an in-game Inbox message.
If you Cycled a Spliced Riven during the affected launch period, check your Warframe Inbox for the refund message. The developer’s confirmation establishes that the script completed; it doesn’t let us verify every individual account received the correct amount. If you believe you’re eligible and haven’t received anything, contact Warframe Support with details of the affected Riven and your Kuva spending.
Can you undo Warframe Riven Splicing?
Digital Extremes included an undo function for Spliced Traits. Return to the Riven Splicing interface to inspect the available reversal before making another change. The combination isn’t necessarily a permanent stat transformation, but you should check the interface and resulting stats before spending additional Kuva or Splicers.
Riven cycling and Warframe Riven Splicing don’t perform the same job. Treat the cycling preview and the Splicing preview separately, especially on a Riven you’ve invested heavily in. You want to know which existing stats you’re preserving and which are being combined before confirming either operation.
Where to farm Splicers for Warframe Riven Splicing
Every successful run of The Icebind awards a Riven Splicer, even if you ignore the optional side objectives. Those extra challenges provide Frozen Keys for additional reward chests; they’re not needed to earn your Splicer. If the mission is already difficult, finish the primary objective rather than risking the whole run on an extra challenge.
Icebind uses Cryobells, with three replenished at the weekly reset on Sunday at 00:00 UTC and a storage cap of six. A failed attempt doesn’t consume a Cryobell, but won’t award the successful-clear Riven Splicer. A consistent squad that completes its runs is the most dependable way to build up a supply.
Warframe Riven Splicing not showing compatible stats
If you can’t select a combination, check whether the mod is unveiled and whether it already contains two compatible traits. The interface highlights supported combinations rather than offering a universal list of bonuses. A Riven with the wrong stat pair can’t be forced into Blast or another Spliced Trait simply by spending more Splicers.
If the Splicer itself is missing, confirm that your Icebind mission ended in successful extraction. You receive one from the mission, not from a particular Frozen Chest, so there’s no need to spend keys looking for the guaranteed reward.
