NBA 2K27 Update 2.0 released on October 8, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, fixing ghost shot contests, changing steals and Takeovers, and allowing MyCAREER Eras to continue for 25 seasons. Crew Division players also earn 25% more REP and double Crew XP. PC and Switch 2 receive the update separately ahead of Season 2 on October 16.
The biggest improvement is to defensive positioning. A defender standing in the wrong place should no longer receive a strong contest on a clean look. There are also changes to mid-range shooting, alley-oops, dribbling and quests that stopped progressing. Here are the changes that will affect your next games.
NBA 2K27 Update 2.0 release date for PS5, Xbox, PC and Switch 2
2K scheduled the patch for October 8 at roughly 2 a.m. PT / 5 a.m. ET, around 10 a.m. BST, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. On PC and Switch 2, version 2.0 is scheduled to arrive shortly before October 16, when Season 2 starts. Those players shouldn’t expect the October 8 console release to appear at the same time.

NBA 2K27 Update 2.0 shooting changes and ghost contests
The patch tackles ghost contests, when a defender who wasn’t squarely covering a shot could still reduce its chance of going in. Contests now account more closely for defender positioning when the ball leaves the shooter’s hands. Open looks from skilled shooters are stronger, mid-range shooting gets a competitive-mode boost and three-point percentages have been lightly rebalanced.
Shooting badges now recognise their intended ranges more accurately. Missed shots also have fewer strange rebounds, including repeated rim bounces and a leftward bias. The developers fixed dunks and alley-oops missing despite correct meter timing and reduced misses with Dunk Timing switched off.
Steals, dribbling and Takeovers in NBA 2K27 Update 2.0
Steals rely more heavily on the defender’s rating, and poor steal attempts are punished when adrenaline is low. Ankle breakers now depend on meaningful hard stops or quick launches. Takeover changes affect Shot Artist, Calibrated and Navigator timing; Airspace and Detonator yield fewer successful dunks, while Rim Guardian now counters Airspace more effectively.
Online team-control matches also show which player the opponent is controlling. That helps when identifying a manual defender before passing or driving, rather than trying to guess from movement alone.

NBA 2K27 Update 2.0 MyCAREER Eras and quest repairs
MyCAREER Eras saves can now continue across eras for a full 25-year career, with improvements to player movement, progression and Moments tracking. Players who had their journey end at an era boundary can finally keep building the same career.
Rebirth, MyPOINTS Accelerator, Workout Warrior and GOAT Skills receive fixes for broken progression caused by missing or damaged user data. A Fire & Concrete Chapter 3 blocker is addressed, along with endorsement and challenge rewards. Physicals Build Specialization tiers 7 and 9 also have lower requirements.
NBA 2K27 Update 2.0 passing, catching and AI defence
Passing should feel less awkward when a defender is crowding the ball handler. The update improves the speed of passes and the response to passing inputs while in a body-up animation. It also reduces cases where receivers fail to catch the ball or collide with a defender during the catch. An inbounding player should no longer be incorrectly called out of bounds after delivering a legal pass.
Defending against the CPU also changes. AI defenders begin matches with less aggressive on-ball and off-ball coverage, then increase the pressure as you start scoring. That should create more room early in a game without making the defence passive for all four quarters. The same update fixes behind-the-back escape commands triggering the wrong dribble, the overly fast stop created through a D-pad emote, and a self-lob exploit in 1v1 post play.
Crew REP and XP changes in NBA 2K27 Update 2.0
Crew Divisions earn 25% more REP, with additional benefits at higher Crew levels, and double Crew XP per game. Shot meters are now enabled in Crew Divisions and the Event Center, while Crew Division difficulty follows current REC settings. Squad Showdown kiosk games keep their existing difficulty setup.
Postgame menus and replays have been added for Crew Divisions and Squad Showdown. The patch fixes Crew invitations and challenges, and Squad Showdown kiosk games no longer consume Gatorade or Skill Boost items.
NBA 2K27 Update 2.0 MyTEAM changes: Game Changer cards and Auction House fixes
MyTEAM players have two new Game Changer cards to look for. Goals rerolls the selected Dynamic Goal Challenge, while 2X REP doubles MyTEAM REP for the card’s specified duration. These are new card effects, not a permanent doubling of REP earned in every game mode.
NBA 2K27 Update 2.0 also makes the Auction House easier to use. The update improves scrolling in search results, lets you add unowned cards to your Wishlist from the results page and fixes several menu hangs. There’s a new Redeem Prizes button in the Play tab when challenge rewards are available. Showdown lineups that previously couldn’t enter matches and some Coach’s Training Challenge problems have also been addressed.
NBA 2K27 Update 2.0 MyNBA, The W and platform fixes
MyNBA and MyGM have simulation, badge and shooting-tendency improvements. MyNBA Legacy makes MVP and Defensive Player of the Year awards easier to attain. The W fixes several badge triggers, progression screens and PlayVision during practice.
On PC, the update adds Advanced Shader Delivery, which helps supported hardware handle shader preparation more efficiently. Intel Xe Low Latency receives a fix, and Steam Deck players get improved Eras filters. On Switch 2, the patch improves single Joy-Con support and adds touch or mouse drawing in supported custom-image menus.

What to try first in NBA 2K27 Update 2.0
Try your usual jump shot against an open defender and a properly positioned one before changing animations. In Crew Divisions, check your postgame REP and XP totals. MyCAREER Eras players should revisit long-term saves and previously blocked quests now that the extended career and progression fixes are available.
If you’re on PC or Switch 2, check the version number before expecting these features. The patch has a different rollout window on those platforms, and your settings won’t force the update to arrive earlier.
