Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon: All Locations and How to Catch Them

Pokémon Legends Z-A official artwork

Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon are oversized, aggressive versions of ordinary species that can turn a routine trip through Lumiose into a much tougher encounter. They are visually easy to recognise once you know what to look for, but the important part for collecting is understanding when Alphas begin appearing, which spawns are guaranteed and how the broader random Alpha system changes after Wild Zone progression. That is especially useful if you want strong catches rather than simply filling Pokédex slots.

Alpha catches have practical advantages as well as the size difference. They arrive with unusually strong stat foundations, mastered move benefits and high HP investment, which can make a good Alpha immediately useful without the same amount of preparation as a normal catch. The guide below separates fixed encounters from random appearances, lists the guaranteed Wild Zone examples currently documented and explains the safest catching approach for these much more hostile wild Pokémon.

Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon begin appearing after the special mission A Big Ol’ Bunnelby introduces the mechanic. Alphas are fixed at maximum size, carry the Alpha mark, and are more dangerous than ordinary members of the same species. They also have useful training advantages: three random maximum IVs, 252 HP EVs, and a move that the species would normally learn through a TM already mastered as a Plus Move.

There are two location systems to understand. Some Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon are guaranteed fixed spawns, while many ordinary spawn points can also roll an Alpha after the related Wild Zone survey has been completed. Those random Alpha chances vary by species and location, with documented rates from 5 percent to 40 percent. A random Alpha is typically around ten levels higher than the normal spawn occupying that point.

Guaranteed Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zones 1 to 10

For Wild Zones 1 through 10, the guaranteed Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon are Wild Zone 1: Pidgey. Wild Zone 2: Magikarp, Staryu. Wild Zone 3: Fletchling, Litleo. Wild Zone 4: Spinarak. Wild Zone 5: Bellsprout, Whirlipede. Wild Zone 6: Pikachu, Houndoom, Binacle. Wild Zone 7: Fletchinder. Wild Zone 8: Camerupt, Krokorok. Wild Zone 9: Meowstic male, Meowstic female, Manectric. Wild Zone 10: Sharpedo, Watchog, Arbok. Every name in this route is a fixed Alpha rather than a normal spawn that merely has a chance to roll larger.

These early fixed spawns are useful when you want to test capture tactics because you can travel to a known target rather than wait for RNG. Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon hit harder and can pressure the Trainer directly, so approach from cover where possible, use status or damage to improve the catch situation, and avoid wasting balls by repeatedly throwing from a bad angle.

Guaranteed Alpha Pokémon in Wild Zones 11 to 19

The guaranteed Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon in the next set are Wild Zone 11: Slowbro, Clawitzer. Wild Zone 12: Abomasnow, Avalugg. Wild Zone 13: Trevenant, Weepinbell. Wild Zone 14: Excadrill. Wild Zone 15: Beedrill, Gourgeist, Banette. Wild Zone 16: Ampharos. Wild Zone 17: Pyroar male, Pyroar female, Mawile. Wild Zone 18: Salamence, Lopunny. Wild Zone 19: Clefairy, Furfrou. Several of these are fully evolved species, so the later fixed route can also save evolution work if the Alpha itself is the collection target.

Treat a fixed Alpha and a random Alpha chance as different opportunities. The fixed Pokémon listed here should be present when its area and requirements are available, while another species in the same zone may only have a percentage chance to become Alpha after the survey condition is met. That distinction prevents a lot of unnecessary resetting when hunting Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon.

Wild Zone 20 Alpha Pokémon

Wild Zone 20 has by far the largest guaranteed Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon pool. It includes Raichu, Clefable, Alakazam, Machamp, Victreebel, Gengar, Tyranitar, Gardevoir, Sableye, Aggron, Medicham, Altaria, Absol, Metagross, Roserade, Garchomp, Lucario, Hippowdon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Gallade, Froslass, Simisage, Simisear, Simipour, Scolipede, Krookodile, Scrafty, Garbodor, Vanilluxe, Eelektross, Chandelure, Stunfisk, Diggersby, Talonflame, Vivillon, Florges, Gogoat, Pangoro, Furfrou, Aegislash, Malamar, Barbaracle, Dragalge, Heliolisk, Sylveon, Hawlucha, Dedenne, Carbink, Goodra, Klefki, Gourgeist, Noivern, Drampa and Falinks. These are documented 100 percent Alpha entries in the late-game zone, not merely species that can randomly become Alpha.

Because the Wild Zone 20 list is so large, use it for broad post-game Alpha cleanup rather than trying to force every hunt there. Earlier Wild Zones often give you a smaller and easier route for the same evolution family. Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon in Zone 20 are especially useful when you are filling several gaps at once and can move between fixed points efficiently.

Guaranteed Alpha Pokémon Outside Wild Zones

Guaranteed Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon also appear in ordinary Lumiose districts. Bleu District has Pansage, Pansear and Panpour. Jaune District has Garbodor, Pidgeot and multiple Flabébé colour spawns. Magenta District has Swirlix and Kakuna. Rouge District has Pansage, Pansear, Panpour and Spritzee. Vert District has Patrat and Trubbish. Lysandre Labs has a guaranteed Alpha Arbok. These locations matter because an Alpha checklist limited to Wild Zones is incomplete.

District Alphas can be better targets than Wild Zone alternatives when the travel point is convenient or when you want a specific species without checking a large habitat pool. For a complete Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon route, clear the guaranteed district list alongside Wild Zones 1 through 20, then use random Alpha chances for species that do not have a fixed point.

How to Catch Alpha Pokémon Reliably

Against a difficult Alpha, prioritise survival and a controlled capture window. Approach without drawing attention if the terrain allows it, use your own Pokémon to reduce its health, and create status or positioning advantages before committing Poké Balls. Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon can punish the Trainer while you are focused on menus or aiming, so keep enough space to dodge rather than standing directly in front of the target.

Captured or defeated Alphas can also drop training items, including Exp. Candy and the valuable Seed of Mastery. That makes repeated Alpha hunting useful even after the Pokédex entry is complete. If the exact fixed spawn is absent, confirm the area and progression state first. If you are hunting a random Alpha instead, finish the corresponding Wild Zone survey and expect to cycle spawns because the Alpha roll is not guaranteed. Keeping guaranteed and random Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon hunts separate makes failed spawn checks much easier to diagnose. A disciplined route through Pokémon Legends Z-A Alpha Pokémon locations saves more time than repeatedly resetting one crowded habitat without checking the fixed alternatives first.
