The ESO Eclipsed Hall Bell Puzzle is one of the hidden challenges in the Nowhere Vault, introduced with Update 51. Completing the room normally isn’t enough to uncover its secret, as you’ll need Cantor’s Starsong from Twilight Maze before the additional bell interactions become available.
Several bells surround the chamber, but only certain ones are used to complete the secret. There’s also a mallet that appears after the main encounter, and leaving the room before finishing the sequence can cause problems. Here’s how to complete the puzzle, obtain Astralight Lumen and use it to progress towards the Gryphon Seal.
How to Get Cantor’s Starsong for the ESO Eclipsed Hall Bell Puzzle
Before attempting the bell puzzle, you need Cantor’s Starsong, a secret effect obtained from Twilight Maze in the Lunar Path wing.
Getting it involves completing two earlier secrets:
- Moonlit Isles: Reach the final floating island, activate the bridge switches and cross the hidden bridges to obtain the Resonating Core.
- Twilight Maze: Find the senche cub named Little Soft Boots without alerting the enemies or activating traps. Follow the cub to the concealed area behind the crumbled rocks.
- Hidden statue: Interact with the stone statue inside the secret area using the Resonating Core. This awards Cantor’s Starsong.
Once you’ve obtained Cantor’s Starsong, you’re ready to complete the Eclipsed Hall secret.
The Nowhere Vault uses randomized challenge rooms, so Moonlit Isles, Twilight Maze and Eclipsed Hall aren’t guaranteed to appear consecutively. You may need additional visits to encounter the rooms required for the chain.

ESO Eclipsed Hall Bell Puzzle Solution
The secret becomes available after you’ve completed Eclipsed Hall’s normal encounter. Make sure you’ve already obtained Cantor’s Starsong before attempting the following steps.
- Complete the normal Eclipsed Hall encounter. Finish the room’s main objective until the exit portal becomes available.
- Find the mallet. Head towards the portal and look for the mallet positioned nearby.
- Pick up the mallet. Don’t enter the exit portal yet, as you still need to complete the secret.
- Return to the bell chamber. With Cantor’s Starsong obtained, several bells should display an unusual sickly-blue colour.
- Ring the middle bell. Use the available interaction prompt to strike the central bell.
- Ring the blue side bells. Interact with the bells displaying the blue colour, leaving the unaffected bells alone.
- Confirm Astralight Lumen. Completing the required interactions unlocks the Astralight Lumen secret.
The ESO Eclipsed Hall Bell Puzzle is completed once Astralight Lumen has been awarded. You can then leave the chamber and continue progressing through the Nowhere Vault.
Which Bells Do You Ring in Eclipsed Hall?
The bell sequence relies on identifying the bells affected by Cantor’s Starsong, not memorising a complicated numerical combination.
After collecting the mallet, return to the centre of the room and use the middle bell. The side bells involved in the secret are identified by their sickly-blue appearance.
Interact with the blue bells and ignore those that retain their normal appearance.
If none of the side bells changes colour, check whether you’ve completed the Twilight Maze secret and obtained Cantor’s Starsong. Finishing the ordinary Eclipsed Hall encounter alone doesn’t unlock Astralight Lumen.
Where to Use Astralight Lumen
Astralight Lumen is needed for a separate secret in Custodian’s Repository, located in the Arcanum wing of the Nowhere Vault.
After obtaining Astralight Lumen, follow these steps:
- Enter the Arcanum wing and progress until you encounter Custodian’s Repository.
- Locate the Astral Tear on the right side of the room.
- Interact with the Astral Tear while Astralight Lumen is available.
- Complete the interaction to obtain the Gryphon Seal associated with this wing.
The connection between these two rooms is easy to miss because Astralight Lumen isn’t used for another puzzle in Eclipsed Hall itself.
There are three Gryphon Seals to obtain throughout the Nowhere Vault. The Astralight Lumen route contributes to the Arcanum seal, while the Lunar Path’s own seal requires Connoisseur’s Vision from Haunted Undercroft in Cursed Castle.
ESO Eclipsed Hall Bell Puzzle Not Working
If the blue bells aren’t appearing, start by checking Cantor’s Starsong. The effect comes from placing the Resonating Core into the hidden statue in Twilight Maze.
You’ll also need to finish the ordinary Eclipsed Hall encounter and collect the mallet near the exit portal. Returning to the bells before completing those steps won’t finish the secret.
Check the following if you’re unable to complete the puzzle:
- No blue bells: Confirm that you’ve earned Cantor’s Starsong from Twilight Maze.
- Can’t find the mallet: Finish the room’s normal encounter and check beside the exit portal.
- Bells won’t respond: Make sure you’re interacting with the central bell and the blue side bells.
- Already left the room: You may be affected by a reported progression issue involving the mallet and bell interactions.
Don’t confuse an unavailable secret interaction with an incorrect bell combination. The prerequisite matters just as much as the bells themselves.
What If the Eclipsed Hall Mallet Doesn’t Respawn?
Players have reported an issue in which leaving Eclipsed Hall partway through the secret prevents the mallet from appearing during a later visit.
One player described collecting the mallet, ringing a bell and leaving before finishing the sequence. On returning, the mallet no longer appeared, and the remaining bells couldn’t be used. Abandoning the associated Rumor reportedly didn’t restore the interactions.
Another attempt with a player who hadn’t previously started the secret provided a workaround. The second player collected the mallet and activated the bell sequence, allowing the affected player to interact with the side bells.
This is a community-reported workaround, not a confirmed developer fix, so it may not resolve every case.
If you’re attempting the secret for the first time, finish all the required bell interactions and confirm Astralight Lumen before leaving through the portal.

Completing the ESO Eclipsed Hall Bell Puzzle gives you Astralight Lumen and brings you another step closer to unlocking the Nowhere Vault’s Gryphon Seal secrets. As long as you have Cantor’s Starsong, collect the mallet after the normal encounter and strike the blue bells, you should be able to finish the sequence without needing to guess a bell combination.
The most important thing is to finish the secret before leaving the chamber. Once Astralight Lumen has been awarded, your next destination is Custodian’s Repository, where it unlocks the Arcanum seal interaction.
