Battlefield 6 Free Trial: Start Time, End Date and What’s Included

Battlefield 6 Free Trial is back for October 2026, with free access on PlayStation and Steam until Monday, October 19. The latest offer is considerably bigger than September’s trial: instead of a restricted set of maps, EA is opening up the full Battlefield 6 experience, including its modes, events and Battlefield Portal.

If you’re planning one last evening with the game, the closing time matters. Steam and PlayStation have different deadlines, and having Battlefield REDSEC installed doesn’t automatically mean every premium game file is ready. Here’s how the current offer works, how to get in and what happens when it ends.

Battlefield 6 Free Trial end time in the UK

The October Battlefield 6 Free Trial closes at 6pm BST on Steam and 9pm BST on PlayStation on October 19. Both dates come from EA’s published promotional terms, rather than an estimated reset time. Don’t leave your final session until midnight; neither platform’s trial is scheduled to last that long.

Platform Trial opened (UK) Trial ends (UK)
PlayStation October 14, 4pm BST October 19, 9pm BST
Steam October 15, 6pm BST October 19, 6pm BST

PlayStation opened on October 14 at 15:00 UTC, while Steam followed on October 15 at 17:00 UTC. EA notes that promotional availability can vary by storefront, so the relevant store listing is worth checking if the free option disappears early.

How to download the Battlefield 6 Free Trial

There are two different routes into the Battlefield 6 Free Trial, depending on whether you already play the free Battlefield REDSEC mode. New players can look for the promotional version of Battlefield 6 in the PlayStation Store or Steam. If you already have REDSEC, follow the steps for your platform rather than assuming your existing installation contains every file.

Steam

Open Battlefield 6’s Steam store page and choose Get Free Edition. Download the offered files, let the game finish updating, then sign in with the EA Account you normally use. EA confirms that Steam players need an EA Account but do not need to launch the separate EA app just to play through Steam.

PlayStation

If Battlefield REDSEC is already installed, launch it and open Settings > System > Install/Uninstall > Edit. Select the Multiplayer and Campaign files needed for the trial. EA also offers another route: choose a premium mode inside REDSEC and follow the download prompt for the missing files. If you’re starting fresh, find the trial directly through the PlayStation Store.

Both platforms require a persistent internet connection and an EA Account. A paid console subscription may also be needed, depending on your account and location. The October promotion is listed for PlayStation and Steam, not Xbox, although the permanently free REDSEC experience remains available separately.

What’s included this time?

EA describes the October Battlefield 6 Free Trial as full access to Battlefield 6, including its game modes, live events and Battlefield Portal. That’s a notable change from September, when the free week gave players a selection of maps and multiplayer playlists instead of the broader October offering.

Season 5 is also underway, so this is a chance to try the newer battlefield spaces alongside the rest of the available multiplayer rotation. Vegas Strip offers busy city fighting around hotels, streets and casinos, while Area 51 brings a different mix of desert approaches and battles inside the facility. If you’re deciding whether to buy, try a large objective mode and a tighter infantry map before the window closes.

What happens when Battlefield 6 Free Trial ends?

Once your platform’s deadline passes, the temporary access to the paid game ends unless you own Battlefield 6 or have another entitlement that includes it. Battlefield REDSEC remains free, so you can still play its supported free-to-play content. The trial is not a giveaway of a permanent Battlefield 6 licence.

Your Battlefield progression is tied to your EA Account, which makes using the correct linked account especially important. If you decide to buy the game later, stick with that same account. EA also says purchases made during the trial won’t be refunded simply because the free-access period ends.

Battlefield 6 Free Trial not working?

If the premium modes are still locked, first check whether the store’s free edition has been claimed and whether the required files have finished downloading. On Steam, claiming Get Free Edition is a separate step from having REDSEC installed. On PlayStation, check the install settings above and make sure Multiplayer is selected.

Next, confirm you’re signed into the EA Account linked to your platform profile. Avoid unlinking accounts in a hurry: EA warns that doing so can affect purchases and progress. If you’re trying after 6pm BST on Steam or 9pm BST on PlayStation on October 19, the trial window itself may have closed.

How was the September trial different?

The previous Battlefield 6 Free Trial ran from September 15 to September 22, during the Tidal Strike rollout. It featured a limited rotation including Wake Island, Tsuru Reef, Cairo Bazaar and Hagental Base, with selected playlists and the Deep Six event. That information applies to the earlier promotional week, not the October 15–19 access period.

It’s easy to confuse the two offers when older September announcements still appear in search results. For the current Battlefield 6 Free Trial, use the October times above and EA’s latest account-access instructions rather than the earlier map list.
