Valheim Deep North Food includes Poteitr, Kale, Oats, Lingonberries and Moose and Seal dishes introduced in version 1.0. Patch 1.0.21 changes where three of the Deep North meals are prepared: Baked Poteitr, Kale Chips and Oven Pancake now begin at the Food Preparation Table.
The October 28 update moved the uncooked versions of those three recipes out of the Cauldron, while keeping their Stone Oven finish. This guide keeps the complete crop and food overview alongside the new station rules, including the feast and other dishes that did not move.
Valheim Deep North Food: three recipes changed in Patch 1.0.21
Iron Gate changed these specific uncooked recipes in Patch 1.0.21 and corrected their tooltips. Check the Food Preparation Table for the first stage. The Stone Oven remains the place to bake the intermediate item into the finished food.
| Finished dish | Prepare at Food Preparation Table | Finish at |
|---|---|---|
| Baked Poteitr | Unbaked Poteitr | Stone Oven |
| Kale Chips | Raw Kale Chips | Stone Oven |
| Oven Pancake | Oven Pancake Batter | Stone Oven |
Other Deep North meals continue to use the stations associated with their recipes. Oats still support Oat Flour and Oatmeal, while the Smoker adds its own dishes. Northern Morning Fare remains a distinct feast requiring Cooked Moose Meat, Poteitr, Oat Flour and Seasoning of the Gourd; its progression requirement was not removed.
If one of the three uncooked recipes disappears from the Cauldron, check the Table before changing your ingredient farm. The developer announced that the patch would arrive on different platforms over several days, so confirm your version if the old recipe layout is still visible.

New Crops
Kale, Oats and Poteitr are the main crop additions behind Valheim Deep North Food. All three are listed as plantable.
Oats then feed Oat Flour, Oat Milk, Oatmeal and pancake recipes.
Lingonberries
Lingonberries are one of the most recognisable Valheim Deep North Food ingredients and can be made into Lingonberry Juice.
Lingonberries also appear in other recipes, so gathering them while exploring gives you ingredients for several meals.
Moose and Seal Recipes
Wildlife supplies another branch of Valheim Deep North Food, with Moose and Seal ingredients turning into cooked and smoked meals.
That makes hunting useful for both armour resources and food progression.
Northern Morning Fare
Northern Morning Fare is the new feast among Valheim Deep North Food.
It requires three Cooked Moose Meat, five Poteitr, two Oat Flour and one Seasoning of the Gourd at the Food Preparation Table. The Bog Witch sells the seasoning only after Kall Fimbulbringer is defeated, so this feast is not a meal you can prepare for your first Kall fight.
New Smoker
The Smoker is the new Cauldron extension tied to the wider Valheim Deep North Food system.
It fits directly with recipes such as Smoked Fish and Smoked Moose Meat.
How Farming Changes in 1.0
Kale, Oats and Poteitr give the final biome its own crop progression. Oats are particularly important because they branch into flour, milk, oatmeal and pancake recipes.
That makes a small farming setup worthwhile even for players who normally rely heavily on hunted meat. The new food tier is designed around combining agriculture with wildlife resources.
Health, Stamina or Eitr?
For a melee build, combine a health-heavy meal such as Seal Meat Soup with one stamina dish and a third food that supports your weapon choice. Caster builds need Eitr food for spell use; pairing Fish Soup with other Eitr meals usually works better than filling all three slots with health alone. The Caller armour set can support your Eitr regeneration as you prepare for Deep North dungeons.
Valheim Deep North Food has distinct roles with useful current-game values. Smoked Moose Meat offers 105 health, 35 stamina and seven health regeneration for 25 minutes; Seal Meat Soup provides 110 health and 37 stamina for 30 minutes. For stamina, Oat Milk offers 110 stamina, while Fish Soup and Meatballs and Poteitr support Eitr-focused builds.
| Food | Health | Stamina | Eitr | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Smoked Moose Meat | 105 | 35 | 0 | 25 min |
| Seal Meat Soup | 110 | 37 | 0 | 30 min |
| Fish Soup | 37 | 18 | 105 | 30 min |
| Oat Milk | 37 | 110 | 0 | 25 min |
| Northern Morning Fare (after Kall) | 85 | 85 | 43 | 50 min |
The right meal combination depends on the activity. Heavy melee and boss attempts may value a different balance from magic builds, long exploration trips or construction sessions.
Rather than choosing purely by the newest recipe name, compare the live health, stamina, Eitr and duration values in the cooking interface and build a three-food combination around the job.
Do You Need a New Farm?
A dedicated final-biome food farm is useful because several new recipes branch from crops rather than creature drops alone. Oats in particular feed multiple processed foods, while Kale and Poteitr broaden the late-game pantry.
You do not need to abandon older farms. Existing high-tier ingredients remain useful, and mixing old staples with new recipes can be more efficient while the new crop supply is still small.
