Baked Poteitr in Valheim is prepared in two stages after Valheim Patch 1.0.21: craft Unbaked Poteitr at the Food Preparation Table, then bake it in a Stone Oven. The uncooked recipe is no longer at the Cauldron.

Iron Gate moved the preparation step on 28 October 2026, while keeping the finished food and its oven stage. Here’s the updated method, how to get the recipe to appear and when Baked Poteitr is worth adding to your food loadout.

One preparation produces 1 Unbaked Poteitr item. Put each uncooked portion in a Stone Oven with wood fuel. Baking takes about 50 seconds per portion before you collect the finished Baked Poteitr.

Iron Gate’s notes explicitly move Unbaked Poteitr, Raw Kale Chips and Oven Pancake Batter away from the Cauldron. Unbaked Poteitr is one of those intermediate foods. The developer also corrected the uncooked recipes’ tooltips, so the new crafting location should be clear once your platform receives the patch.

If you used a pre-patch guide and cannot find the ingredient mixture at a Cauldron, switch to your Food Preparation Table. You don’t need to rebuild an expensive Cauldron just to perform this particular preparation. Patch 1.0.21 reached different platforms over several days, so check your installed version.

Baked Poteitr in Valheim: How to make the finished meal

Gather 1 Seal Blubber, 2 Kale, 1 Poteitr, 2 Oat Flour at the Food Preparation Table. Use the Food Preparation Table to make the intermediate item, then carry that item to an operating Stone Oven and finish the baking process. Collect the finished Baked Poteitr when it’s ready.

Don’t confuse the raw intermediate item with the completed meal. The table performs the preparation, but it doesn’t cook the food for you. The Stone Oven is still required even after the new update. Prepare several portions while the station is available and keep the uncooked items together so they don’t get mixed up with harvested crops.

Ingredients and Deep North farming

Grow and harvest Poteitr as part of the Deep North food supply. Keeping a few crops in reserve gives you more freedom to prepare future meals. The relevant ingredients and stations must already be discovered by your character for a new recipe to appear.

Keep your crops and other cooking supplies near the preparation station so you can repeat the route without another long trip. Patch 1.0.21 changed the station rather than the ingredients, so the recipe quantities remain those shown in the table above.

Baked Poteitr in Valheim: Food stats and survival role

The existing Version 1.0 guide records 34 health, 17 stamina and 100 Eitr for 25 minutes for the finished food. That makes Baked Poteitr an Eitr-focused meal for mage loadouts. Compare its duration and stat balance with what you already eat before spending your entire ingredient supply.

Valheim allows three active foods. A mage needs Eitr but still benefits from stamina to dodge and move; a fighter may want more health and stamina for blocking and attacking. Think of this as one slot in your loadout, not a meal that automatically replaces every other late-game food.

Baked Poteitr in Valheim: Recipe not showing after the patch

If the recipe is missing, check your game version, confirm you’ve picked up the required ingredients, then open the Food Preparation Table. The intermediate item you’re looking for is named Unbaked Poteitr. Older screenshots of the Cauldron’s recipe list will be out of date.

If the raw stage is available but the finished Baked Poteitr isn’t in your inventory, you still need the baking step. Check that the Stone Oven can run and that the intermediate food has actually been collected. The two parts of this cooking process use different stations, and the patch has only moved the first one.

Baked Poteitr in Valheim: Cooking for a group and saving ingredients

Shared worlds benefit from an organised food chest. Store Poteitr and any prepared Unbaked Poteitr separately so other players can see what is available to cook. Do the preparation work before a boss attempt rather than discovering at the last minute that your ingredients are still raw.

If you’ve just unlocked the Deep North, maintain a small surplus of crops for replanting and other recipes. This is more useful than using every harvested ingredient to make one batch, particularly when friends have different stamina and Eitr needs.

Other recipes affected by 1.0.21

The same station change applies to Baked Poteitr, Kale Chips and Oven Pancake. Those foods still use the Stone Oven after their uncooked stages.

That doesn’t mean every Deep North recipe or every Cauldron dish moved. Our Valheim Deep North Food overview keeps the station changes together with the broader list of ingredients and dishes.
