Falinks recently made its way into Pokemon Go, but are you familiar with the weakness and counters of the Formation Pokemon?

This is a shorthand guide piece designed to inform you what counters exist to defeat Falinks in Pokemon Go, whether you encounter them in raids or PvP, these weaknesses will apply in both.

What is the biggest weakness of Falinks in Pokemon Go?

The biggest counter to Falinks in Pokemon Go comes down to a tie between Fairy-Type and Flying-Type Pokemon, who both resist everything Falinks is capable of while having a super-effective damage advantage.

Psychic-Types can also perform well, but Falinks has a super-effective attack back against those, so they’re an extra risk compared to the others.

How did we find the most reliable counter to Falinks?

Despite its overall simplicity, the Pokemon series has a very logic-based depth to it, in that every type has its own set of weaknesses and strengths.

This means that in a game like Pokemon Go, where you sometimes even know what Pokemon you’ll be fighting in advance – in content such as Raids – and with Pokemon having fewer potential moves they can use, you can often make a determination as to what type will be the best counter option in battle before the battle even starts.

In the case of battling a pure Fighting type like Falinks, you have a few possible Types that it is known to have a weakness against in the Pokemon series. In Pokemon Go specifically, we can also see what moves it has, and determine which of these types it cannot fight back against.

Falinks will resist Bug, Dark and Rock Type attacks, while taking increased damage due to weakness from Fairy, Flying, and Psychic Attacks in Pokemon Go.

Out of Fairy, Flying and Psychic-Types, we need to know what moves Falinks can use to be sure which is the best, as all three types deal the same damage.

Falinks fast attacks are entirely Fighting-Type, as shown below.

  • Counter (Fighting)
  • Rock Smash (Fighting)

Charged attacks meanwhile, show some improvement in variety, if not much.

  • Brick Break (Fighting)
  • Megahorn (Bug)
  • Superpower (Fighting)

All of the Types mentioned previously are Resistant to Fighting-Type attacks, though Psychic-Types do have a weakness against Bug-Types, leaving them vulnerable to Megahorn.

Fairy and Flying-Types meanwhile will resist all of Falinks attacks while dealing Super-Effective damage, making them both excellent choices, and a tie for first place.

Weakness and counters Summary

As mentioned above, the winner here is a tie between Fairy and Flying-Type Pokemon – Falinks simply has access to nothing in Pokemon Go to use against them that will deal meaningful damage and has to deal with Super-Effective damage from their attacks as well.

Psychic Types are still good choices here, but they will perform worse if you end up fighting a Falinks using Megahorn, so it ends up being an unnecessary risk by comparison.
