Blissey is one of the most popular Gym defenders, and is often found doing precisely that in Pokemon Go Gyms, but what is its main weakness?

This article is designed to inform you enough about Blissey and its biggest weakness so that you know how to defeat the incredibly durable Happiness Pokemon.

What is the biggest weakness of Blissey in Pokemon Go?

As is typical in any Pokemon title, including Go, precisely how strong a Pokemon is and what moves it uses may vary depending on the individual, but there are a few things that remain consistent across all of any given species of Pokemon.

The easiest of these to exploit is often the Pokemon’s Type.

Blissey is a Normal-Type Pokemon. If you’re familiar with other Normal-Types such as Snorlax or Chansey, you’ll know what this means.

Normal-Types are very annoying to counter in a way that enhances your own damage, though luckily they don’t really have any Type advantages either, except against Ghost-Types.

Blissey, like all other pure Normal-Types, takes increased damage from Fighting-Type Attacks, at a 160% damage rate. Though it is significantly resistant to Ghost-Type attacks, taking a mere 39% damage from those.

Options for bringing a Blissey down in Pokemon Go therefore are limited to Fighting-Type Pokemon if you want to do it quickly. Though the only real absolute priority here is to avoid Ghost-Types.

In any case, the weakness of Blissey in Pokemon Go is Fighting-Type Attacks.

What moves can Blissey use in battle?

Fast Attacks
  • Pound (Normal)
  • Zen Headbutt (Psychic)
Charged Attacks
  • Dazzling Gleam (Fairy)
  • Hyper Beam (Normal)
  • Psychic (Psychic)

Similar to the pre-evolution form of Blissey, Chansey, Blissey has access to some Psychic-Type moves that can make levelling a Fighting-Type against it a bit of a risk. That said, Fighting-Types are still the only counter if you want to do more damage.

Is there anything else?

Nope, outside of being aware that Blissey can be packing Psychic-Type moves that can be dangerous for your Fighting-Types, there’s not a whole lot extra to know.

With that said, if you have a Pokemon packing Fighting-Type moves while it isn’t a Fighting-Type, this might be a good scenario to use it.
