Staraptor Pokémon GO is a Normal- and Flying-type Pokémon from the Sinnoh region that evolves from Staravia. Shiny Staraptor is available, Staraptor can reach 3,194 CP at Level 50, and its strongest Flying-type moveset is Gust and Fly.

Staraptor is also gaining fresh importance during the Twilight Trails season, which runs from September 8 until December 1, 2026. Pokémon has confirmed that Mega Staraptor will make its Pokémon GO debut during Twilight Trails, giving Trainers another reason to prepare a strong Staraptor before its Mega Evolution becomes available.

How to Get Staraptor Pokémon GO

The most reliable way to get Staraptor Pokémon GO is by evolving Starly through its full evolution line.

Starly evolves into Staravia using 25 Starly Candy. Staravia then evolves into Staraptor using another 100 Starly Candy.

EvolutionCandy Required
Starly → Staravia25 Starly Candy
Staravia → Staraptor100 Starly Candy
Starly → Staraptor total125 Starly Candy

There is no special evolution item, Buddy requirement or additional task needed.

Starting with a Starly therefore requires a total of 125 Starly Candy to obtain Staraptor.

Can Staraptor Be Shiny in Pokémon GO?

Yes. Shiny Staraptor is available in Pokémon GO.

Trainers can obtain Shiny Staraptor by evolving a Shiny Starly through Shiny Staravia and into Shiny Staraptor.

The evolution requirements remain exactly the same:

25 Starly Candy for Starly to Staravia, followed by another 100 Candy for Staravia to Staraptor.

A Shiny Starly remains Shiny throughout the entire evolution line.

Staraptor Pokémon GO Evolution

The Staraptor Pokémon GO evolution line contains three Pokémon:

Starly → Staravia → Staraptor

Starly is the first-stage Pokémon, Staravia is the middle evolution and Staraptor is the final standard evolution.

Staraptor does not currently evolve into another normal Pokémon, but it will gain access to Mega Staraptor during the Twilight Trails season.

That means Trainers who already have a strong Staraptor will eventually be able to use it for Mega Evolution once Mega Staraptor and its required Mega Energy are released.

What Type Is Staraptor Pokémon GO?

Staraptor Pokémon GO is a dual Normal- and Flying-type Pokémon.

That typing gives Staraptor three main weaknesses:

  • Electric
  • Ice
  • Rock

Staraptor also has useful resistances to Bug- and Grass-type attacks and particularly strong resistances to Ghost- and Ground-type attacks.

Attack TypeEffect Against Staraptor
ElectricSuper effective
IceSuper effective
RockSuper effective
BugResisted
GrassResisted
GhostHeavily resisted
GroundHeavily resisted

These weaknesses are particularly useful to remember once Mega Staraptor begins appearing in Mega Raids.

Staraptor Pokémon GO Weaknesses

The main Staraptor Pokémon GO weaknesses are Electric-, Ice- and Rock-type attacks.

That gives Trainers several strong counter options when Staraptor appears in battle-focused content.

Rock-type attackers are particularly common raid choices, while strong Electric- and Ice-type Pokémon can also exploit Staraptor’s Flying typing.

Staraptor Pokémon GO Max CP and Stats

Staraptor Pokémon GO reaches a maximum CP of 3,194 at Level 50.

At Level 40, Staraptor reaches a maximum of 2,825 CP.

Staraptor LevelMaximum CP
Level 402,825 CP
Level 503,194 CP

Staraptor’s base stats are:

StatValue
Attack234
Defense140
HP198

Its 234 Attack stat gives Staraptor considerably more offensive potential than its Defense stat might suggest.

Best Staraptor Pokémon GO Moveset

The best Staraptor Pokémon GO moveset for Flying-type raid damage is:

Gust + Fly

Gust is a Flying-type Fast Attack and Fly is a Flying-type Charged Attack, allowing both moves to benefit from Staraptor’s Flying typing.

Gust is a legacy Fast Attack for Staraptor, so Trainers who do not already have it may need an Elite Fast TM outside an event that makes Gust obtainable again.

Alternative Fast Attacks include Wing Attack and Quick Attack.

For Trainer Battles, Staraptor can also make use of Close Combat, giving it Fighting-type coverage alongside its Flying attacks.

Is Staraptor Good in Pokémon GO?

Staraptor Pokémon GO can be a useful Flying-type attacker.

Its high Attack stat and access to Fly give it respectable offensive output, particularly for Trainers who do not have access to the strongest Legendary or Mega Flying-type attackers.

Staraptor is less durable than many competing Pokémon because of its relatively low Defense, but its damage output can still make it useful in raids where Flying-type attacks are super effective.

The arrival of Mega Staraptor during Twilight Trails will also increase the importance of the evolution family.

Is Staraptor Good in GO Battle League?

Staraptor can be used in both Great League and Ultra League, although its low Defense makes it a relatively fragile choice.

Moves such as Fly and Close Combat give Staraptor strong offensive coverage.

Close Combat can deal heavy damage but also lowers the user’s Defense, making timing particularly important.

Staraptor is generally less suited to Master League, where it has to compete with much stronger Pokémon at higher CP levels.

Staraptor Pokémon GO Hundo CP

A perfect 15/15/15 Staraptor has different CP values depending on the level of the encounter.

Encounter Level100 IV Staraptor CP
Level 151,211 CP
Level 201,614 CP
Level 252,018 CP

A Level 15 encounter is typically associated with research, while Level 20 and Level 25 values apply to fixed-level encounters such as raids when Staraptor is available through those methods.

Weather-boosted Staraptor benefits from Partly Cloudy or Windy weather because of its Normal- and Flying-type combination.

Can Shiny Staraptor Mega Evolve?

Once Mega Staraptor becomes available, a Shiny Staraptor will be able to Mega Evolve while retaining its Shiny status.

Mega Evolution does not remove a Pokémon’s Shiny status.

That means Trainers who already own a strong Shiny Staraptor Pokémon GO may want to keep it ready ahead of the Mega Staraptor debut during Twilight Trails.

Should You Keep a Good Staraptor for Twilight Trails?

Yes. Trainers with a high-IV or Shiny Staraptor may want to hold onto it ahead of Twilight Trails.

Mega Staraptor is officially confirmed to debut during the season, and an existing Staraptor will be able to benefit once the required Mega Evolution mechanics become available.

A Staraptor with strong IVs, a Shiny Staraptor or one already carrying Gust can therefore be particularly worth keeping.

For Trainers starting from scratch, collecting 125 Starly Candy is enough to evolve Starly through Staravia into Staraptor Pokémon GO, ready for the arrival of Mega Staraptor later in the Twilight Trails season.
