The Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite is a Chapter 7 Season 4 Gizmo that helps you find the nearest in-game Cheat Code during a Battle Royale match. If you are hunting Sprites, the Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite saves you from searching the Island manually by directing you toward the closest Cheat Code.
Cheat Codes are one of the new ways to find Sprites during Override. They appear during Battle Royale matches and are completely separate from the text-based Lobby Hack codes entered through the Admin Panel.
Here is exactly how the Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite works and how to get one.
Free Cheat Code Locators from ALMOSTSCARINGSEASON
Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite has a new free acquisition method on September 21. Enter ALMOSTSCARINGSEASON in the lobby Admin Panel to receive two Cheat Code Locators during the current Mastery Monday event.
The code does not replace the normal purpose of the item. A Cheat Code Locator still helps reveal nearby in-match Cheat Codes, but ALMOSTSCARINGSEASON gives you two without first relying on another acquisition route.
For the code entry steps, use our ALMOSTSCARINGSEASON Fortnite Code guide. If the Admin Panel itself refuses to submit a Lobby Hack, see Fortnite Admin Panel Code Not Working.
What Does the Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite Do?
The Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite finds the nearest Cheat Code to your current position.
That is its main purpose.
When you use a Cheat Code Locator, it helps you track down one of the in-game Cheat Codes found around the Battle Royale Island.
Once you reach the Cheat Code, you can interact with it and complete the sequence.
The Cheat Code Locator does not solve the code for you. It simply makes finding one considerably easier.
How to Use a Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite
To use a Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite, you first need to have the Gizmo available during your match.
Use the Cheat Code Locator and follow its guidance toward the nearest Cheat Code.
Once you reach the location, interact with the Cheat Code itself.
The important distinction is that the Locator is a navigation tool. Using one does not immediately give you a Sprite or automatically complete the Cheat Code.
How to Get a Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite
There are multiple ways to obtain the new Override Gizmos, but there is also a particularly easy way to get a Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite without having to hunt for one.
Two Chapter 7 Season 4 Lobby Hack codes give Cheat Code Locators:
FINDITCHAT — 2 Cheat Code Locators
SURVIVETHENIGHT — 2 Cheat Code Locators
That means you can claim four Cheat Code Locators through the Admin Panel codes.
How to Get Free Cheat Code Locators in Fortnite
If you want free Cheat Code Locators, head to the Battle Royale lobby and open the Admin Panel.
Enter:
FINDITCHAT
Then submit the code to claim two Cheat Code Locators.
You can then enter:
SURVIVETHENIGHT
That code also gives you two Cheat Code Locators.
Claiming both gives you four Locators to use while hunting Cheat Codes during Chapter 7 Season 4.
What Are Cheat Codes in Fortnite?
To understand why the Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite is useful, it helps to separate Cheat Codes from Lobby Hacks.
Lobby Hacks are the text codes entered through the Admin Panel. These include codes such as PLAY4ALL, FINDITCHAT, GOTTAGOFAST and the many others available during Override.
Cheat Codes are different.
They are found inside Battle Royale matches and use directional sequences rather than text phrases.
Completing these in-game Cheat Codes can release Sprites, making them another route for building your Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprite collection.
Does the Cheat Code Locator Find Sprites?
Not directly.
The Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite finds Cheat Codes rather than Sprites themselves.
That distinction is important.
Using the Locator will not immediately cause a Sprite to appear. Instead, it helps you find a Cheat Code, which you can then interact with as part of the Sprite system.
So the process is:
Use Cheat Code Locator → find nearest Cheat Code → complete Cheat Code → get Sprite opportunity.
Does the Cheat Code Locator Complete Cheat Codes?
No.
A Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite only helps you find the nearest Cheat Code.
You still need to travel to the location and complete the Cheat Code interaction yourself.
It is essentially a shortcut for finding the system rather than a way to skip the entire process.
Cheat Code Locator vs Lobby Hack Codes
These two systems are easy to confuse during Chapter 7 Season 4.
A Lobby Hack code is entered through the Admin Panel while you are in the Fortnite lobby.
An in-game Cheat Code is found while playing Battle Royale.
A Cheat Code Locator helps you find those in-game Cheat Codes.
This means FINDITCHAT is technically a Lobby Hack code that gives you a Cheat Code Locator, which then helps you find a completely different Cheat Code.
Yes, Fortnite has made the terminology unnecessarily chaotic.
Is the Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite a Gizmo?
Yes.
The Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite is a Gizmo introduced during Chapter 7 Season 4: Override.
Gizmos are special items with unique functions rather than ordinary weapons.
Other Override Gizmos include the Extraction Accelerator, Llama Supply Drop and Spicy Taco.
The Cheat Code Locator’s specific job is finding the nearest Cheat Code.
Is the Cheat Code Locator Worth Using?
If you are actively collecting Sprites, the Cheat Code Locator in Fortnite is absolutely useful.
You can find Cheat Codes naturally while exploring the Island, but that relies on you happening to encounter one.
Using a Locator allows you to deliberately search for Cheat Codes instead.
That is particularly useful if you enter a match specifically intending to work on your Sprite collection rather than simply playing Battle Royale and hoping you stumble across something useful.
Do You Need a Cheat Code Locator to Find Cheat Codes?
No.
You can find Cheat Codes without using a Cheat Code Locator.
The Locator simply makes the process easier by helping you find the nearest one.
If you already know where a Cheat Code is located or happen to encounter one while playing, you do not need to use a Locator first.
Can You Get More Than One Cheat Code Locator?
Yes.
You can have access to multiple Cheat Code Locators, and the free Lobby Hack codes make getting several particularly easy.
Entering both FINDITCHAT and SURVIVETHENIGHT gives you four Cheat Code Locators in total from those rewards alone.
That gives you several opportunities to deliberately hunt Cheat Codes rather than relying entirely on random exploration.
