The Crown Sprite is one of the Mythic Sprites introduced with Fortnite Override, and its unlock method is very different from most other Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprites. You do not need to find the Crown Sprite in a Chest, solve a Cheat Code or extract it from the Island.

You need to win.

The way to get the Crown Sprite in Fortnite is to earn a Victory Royale.

A win in either Battle Royale or Zero Build unlocks the Crown Sprite.

Once you have earned the required Victory Royale, check your Sprite collection for the Crown Sprite.

You do not need to be carrying a Victory Crown when earning the initial Sprite.

Do You Need a Crowned Victory Royale to Get the Crown Sprite?

No.

You only need a regular Victory Royale to get the Crown Sprite in Fortnite.

A Crowned Victory Royale becomes useful when you start trying to level and master the Sprite, but it is not required for the initial unlock.

This is an important distinction because the Crown Sprite’s levelling system is heavily connected to winning matches.

Where Is the Crown Sprite in Fortnite?

Unlike many Sprites, there isn’t a location on the map where you need to search for the Crown Sprite.

It is a reward for winning.

That means there is no Crown Sprite spawn location to land at and no particular Chest you need to open.

Earn a Victory Royale and the Sprite becomes available in your collection.

What Does the Crown Sprite Do in Fortnite?

The Crown Sprite gives you additional Crown Wins after earning a Victory Royale.

Its ability makes the Crown Sprite particularly unusual because its entire progression system revolves around winning matches.

Fortnite also confirms that the Crown Sprite can only normally be levelled by winning matches.

That makes obtaining the Sprite fairly straightforward. Mastering it is another matter entirely.

How Do You Level Up the Crown Sprite?

To level the Crown Sprite normally, you need to win matches while using it.

Player testing indicates that simply owning the Crown Sprite is not enough. You need to have the Sprite equipped for the Victory Royale to progress it.

This is where the Crown Sprite becomes one of the more challenging Sprites to master.

Unlike a Sprite that levels through opening Chests or using healing items, there isn’t an easy activity you can repeatedly perform during a normal match.

You have to keep winning.

Does a Crowned Victory Royale Master the Crown Sprite?

Current player testing indicates that a Crowned Victory Royale while the Crown Sprite is equipped can immediately master it. Multiple players have independently reported the same result since Chapter 7 Season 4 launched.

That makes getting a Crowned Victory Royale particularly valuable.

One practical route is:

Win a match → unlock Crown Sprite and receive a Victory Crown → equip Crown Sprite → win the next match while keeping your Crown.

Pull that off and current testing indicates the Crown Sprite can jump straight to mastery.

Admittedly, “just win two games in a row” is doing quite a lot of work there.

Do You Need the Crown Sprite Equipped?

Yes, according to current player testing.

If you’re trying to level the Crown Sprite through victories, make sure you actually have it equipped, rather than simply carrying it in your inventory.

Players have already discovered this one the painful way.

Winning while the Crown Sprite is merely sitting in your inventory does not appear to provide the same progression.

What Happens When You Master the Crown Sprite?

Mastering the regular Crown Sprite unlocks the Cheat Master Crown Sprite, according to current player testing.

This gives players another reason to continue beyond simply unlocking the base Crown Sprite.

There are reports of further Crown Sprite progression after mastering the Cheat Master version, but the next variant is currently producing placeholder behaviour for some players. We would not treat a further Crown variant as properly available until that is confirmed in the live collection.

Can You Level the Crown Sprite With an Adventure Sprite?

Interestingly, yes, and this has become one of the first big player-discovered tricks of the season.

The Adventure Sprite’s ability upgrades a random item in your inventory whenever it gains a level.

Players discovered that if the Crown Sprite is the only eligible item in your inventory while you level an equipped Adventure Sprite, those upgrades can be directed into the Crown Sprite.

However, players are reporting an important limitation: using the Adventure Sprite trick can help level or master the Crown Sprite, but it does not appear to satisfy the win requirement needed to unlock the Cheat Master Crown Sprite variant.

We’ve got a separate guide for that trick coming next because it deserves one.

Can You Get the Crown Sprite in Bot Lobbies?

There are conflicting early player reports around Crown Sprite progression in bot lobbies, with several players reporting that wins there do not count toward its normal levelling requirements.

Because this is still being tested, don’t rely on a bot lobby if your goal is specifically to unlock or progress the Crown Sprite through victories.

A normal Battle Royale or Zero Build Victory Royale is the safer route.

Is the Crown Sprite Rare?

The Crown Sprite is a Mythic Sprite, but its rarity comes from its unlock requirement rather than an extremely low random spawn chance.

You cannot simply spend all day opening Chests hoping one eventually appears.

You earn it through a Victory Royale.

That makes how to get the Crown Sprite in Fortnite refreshingly clear, even if mastering the thing afterwards is significantly less forgiving.

How to Get the Crown Sprite in Fortnite Explained

If you’re wondering how to get the Crown Sprite in Fortnite, earn a Victory Royale in Battle Royale or Zero Build during Chapter 7 Season 4. The Crown Sprite will then be unlocked for your collection.

The Crown Sprite grants additional Crown Wins after victories and normally levels through winning matches. A Crowned Victory Royale with the Sprite equipped is currently reported to master it immediately and unlock the Cheat Master Crown Sprite.

Getting it: one win.

Mastering it: Fortnite would like you to demonstrate that the first win wasn’t a fluke.
