The Fortnite Hunting Rifle bug has been acknowledged by Epic Games after today’s Fortnite v41.20 update, with players discovering the weapon still appearing in Battle Royale despite being listed as vaulted.
Epic has now confirmed the issue is unintentional and says a fix is already being rolled out.
Fortnite Hunting Rifle Bug Explained
Following today’s update, Epic Games announced that the Hunting Rifle had been vaulted alongside several other weapons and consumables.
However, shortly after the servers went live, players began reporting that the weapon was still spawning during matches.
Epic has since confirmed that the Hunting Rifle wasn’t completely removed from the loot pool due to a configuration issue.
Why Is the Hunting Rifle Still in Fortnite?
According to Epic Games, the Hunting Rifle’s spawn rate wasn’t fully reduced to zero.
As a result, players can still occasionally find the weapon despite it officially being vaulted.
This isn’t a secret unvault or a limited-time event—it’s simply a bug.
Is Epic Games Fixing the Hunting Rifle Bug?
Yes.
Epic has confirmed that a fix is already being deployed to ensure the Hunting Rifle’s spawn chance is completely removed.
Once the update is applied, players should no longer encounter the weapon in Battle Royale or Zero Build.
Can You Still Find the Hunting Rifle?
For now, yes.
Until Epic’s backend fix has fully rolled out, some matches may still contain Hunting Rifles.
Because the issue is tied to the loot pool rather than a downloadable update, the weapon should disappear automatically once Epic finishes applying the fix.
What Else Was Vaulted?
Alongside the Hunting Rifle, today’s update also removed:
- Flex SMG
- Midas Flopper
- Spicy Fish
Meanwhile, the Heavy Impact Sniper Rifle returned to the loot pool as part of the same update.
Fortnite Hunting Rifle Bug Should Be Fixed Soon
The Fortnite Hunting Rifle bug isn’t an intentional gameplay change. Epic Games has confirmed the weapon should have been fully vaulted in today’s update, and a backend fix is already on the way to stop it spawning in future matches.
