The Fortnite Air Sprite is found in chests across the Battle Royale Island and gives players faster sprinting, higher jumps while sprinting and complete protection from fall damage.
Added with Fortnite update v41.20 on July 16, 2026, the Air Sprite is a movement-focused collectible that can be found, levelled and extracted like other Sprites in Chapter 7 Season 3. It is not connected to the Hot Bat Summer quest rewards, so players do not need to complete Batman challenges to add it to their collection.
The Air Sprite’s jump height improves as it gains levels, although Epic Games has not published the exact height increase for each stage.
How to Get the Fortnite Air Sprite
To get the Fortnite Air Sprite, search ordinary chests and Sprite Chests during an unranked Battle Royale or Zero Build match.
The Sprite inside a chest is random, so there is no single location that guarantees an Air Sprite in every match. Sprite Chests are the strongest places to search because update v41.20 changed their loot rules. These special chests now guarantee an Epic, Legendary or Mythic Sprite, or a higher-rarity variant, and variants appear more frequently than before.
The Air Sprite can also be taken from an eliminated opponent who was carrying one. This can save time when the dropped Sprite has already gained levels, but it also means another player can take yours if you are eliminated before completing an extraction.
Claims that the Air Sprite only appears around mountains or one particular point of interest have not been confirmed by Epic. A route containing several Sprite Chests is more reliable than repeatedly landing at an unverified location.
Use the Sprite Locator for Another Chance
The Sprite Locator Gizmo provides another way to search for the Fortnite Air Sprite.
Activating the Gizmo creates a nearby buried chest containing a random Sprite. It does not guarantee an Air Sprite, but it gives players an additional roll without needing to reach another fixed Sprite Chest.
Gizmos are only available in unranked Battle Royale and Zero Build. They cannot be traded or dropped when a player is eliminated, and they expire at the end of the current season.
Epic has also announced the Lucky Locator for update v41.30. That upgraded Gizmo will guarantee a chest containing a Sprite the player has not previously collected, but it is not available in v41.20.

What Does the Fortnite Air Sprite Do?
The Fortnite Air Sprite provides three movement benefits:
- Faster sprinting
- Higher jumps while sprinting
- Zero fall damage
The sprint boost helps players rotate across open ground, escape the Storm and close the distance during a fight. The improved jump height makes it easier to clear obstacles, reach ledges and move unpredictably around structures.
Fall-damage protection is the most important part of the ability. Players can drop from cliffs, buildings and other elevated positions without losing Health, removing one of the main risks of using high ground. Epic’s live description confirms all three effects.
The jump bonus applies while sprinting, so players should build momentum before jumping rather than expecting every standing jump to receive the full effect.
Fortnite Air Sprite Levels Explained
The Fortnite Air Sprite becomes stronger as it gains levels, with jump height increasing at each stage.
Epic has confirmed the scaling effect but has not released exact measurements for Level 1 through Level 5. There is currently no verified table showing the precise jump height, sprint-speed percentage or distance gained at every level.
Only the jump-height improvement has been specifically linked to levelling. The Air Sprite provides faster sprinting and zero fall damage from the beginning, but Epic has not said that those two effects become stronger at higher levels.
The most accurate live description is therefore:
| Air Sprite feature | Level effect |
|---|---|
| Sprint speed | Increased while equipped |
| Sprinting jump height | Increases as the Sprite levels up |
| Fall damage | Completely prevented |
| Exact level values | Not published by Epic |
Any guide giving exact per-level metres or speed percentages without showing live in-game values should be treated cautiously.
How to Level Up the Air Sprite
Keep the Fortnite Air Sprite equipped while playing Battle Royale to earn Sprite experience and raise it from Level 1 towards Level 5.
Players can also make use of Mastery Monday, when Sprites level twice as quickly and Legendary and Mythic Sprites appear more often. The event also awards double Sprite Dust from extractions and additional Portable Extractors.
Mastering the Air Sprite requires reaching Level 5. Once mastered, it contributes to Sprite Mastery progression and can be displayed through the Sprite Mastery Pod Back Bling when the relevant style is available.
Levelling a Sprite during one match does not automatically make it permanent. The Sprite must still be successfully extracted if that version is not already in the player’s collection.
How to Extract the Fortnite Air Sprite
After finding a Fortnite Air Sprite, take it to an active Extraction Site or use a Portable Extractor to secure it.
Finding the Sprite and carrying it is not enough to permanently unlock it. If the player is eliminated before extraction, the Sprite can be picked up and used by someone else. Epic confirms that new Sprites and variants remain available for the rest of the season once introduced.
Update v41.20 also introduced the Extraction Site Booster Gizmo. When used at an Extraction Site, it calls a boosted Extraction Crate and awards bonus Sprite Dust for a Sprite extracted there.
The crate can also contain Chug Splash, Crash Pad Jr, Shield Bubble Jr or a Friend Zone Bubble.
Once extraction is complete, that Air Sprite version is added to the collection and can be equipped before future matches.
All Fortnite Air Sprite Variants
The base Fortnite Air Sprite is joined by four confirmed special variants.
| Air Sprite version | Additional benefit |
|---|---|
| Base Air Sprite | Faster sprinting, higher sprinting jumps and no fall damage |
| Gold Air Sprite | Adds bonus XP from eliminations |
| Gummy Air Sprite | Adds bonus Sprite Dust when extracted |
| Galaxy Air Sprite | Provides 30% more ammunition when looting |
| Holofoil Air Sprite | Improves the squad’s chance of finding rare Sprite variants in chests |
Each version keeps the Air Sprite’s main mobility power while adding the normal bonus associated with its variant type. Epic’s release material confirms that Air, Seven and Batman have Gold, Gummy, Galaxy and Holofoil versions.
Epic separately confirms that Galaxy Sprites provide 30% more ammunition when looting.
Epic has shown a Cube Sprite variant in promotional material, but it has not confirmed that a Cube Air Sprite can currently be found and extracted. Cube should therefore remain outside the confirmed live variant list until its release method is revealed.
Is the Air Sprite a Quest Reward?
The Fortnite Air Sprite is not a reward from the Hot Bat Summer quests.
Those challenges gradually unlock the Batman Sprite and DC-themed cosmetics. The Air Sprite and Seven Sprite are separate additions that begin appearing naturally on the Island and must be collected through the Sprite system.
Players looking for Air should spend their time opening chests, using Sprite Locator Gizmos and extracting any missing versions rather than completing Batman quests in the hope of receiving it.
Is the Air Sprite Worth Using?
The Fortnite Air Sprite is a strong choice for players who value constant movement rather than a situational combat effect.
Its power is always useful while travelling, and zero fall damage allows players to use cliffs and tall structures more aggressively. The increased sprinting jump also helps during pursuits because a player can move over obstacles without losing as much momentum.
It does not directly increase weapon damage, reveal enemies or add Health and Shield. Players who prefer those effects may choose another Sprite, but the Air Sprite provides a simple mobility advantage that remains useful throughout an entire match.
It should be particularly valuable in Zero Build, where players cannot quickly create ramps to recover from a drop or reach higher terrain.
Run Faster and Leave the Fall Damage Behind
The Fortnite Air Sprite is available from July 16, 2026, and can be found by searching chests during Battle Royale and Zero Build matches.
Equip it to sprint faster, jump higher while sprinting and take no fall damage. Keep it active to increase its level, then extract the Sprite to permanently add that version to your collection.
There is no confirmed guaranteed spawn location, and Epic has not published exact level-by-level movement figures. Sprite Chests and the new Sprite Locator remain the most dependable ways to search while those details are tested in the live game.
