COD Mobile Verdansk Gulag gives you a chance to return to Battle Royale after your first elimination on Verdansk. Rather than staying out immediately, you’re taken to the Gulag to watch other players until it’s your turn to fight one opponent. Win that one-on-one battle and you’ll redeploy into Verdansk. Lose and your return depends on a teammate buying you back at a Buy Station.

This is part of the Season 10 Verdansk update, arriving 11 November at 4 PM PST, or midnight GMT on November 12. It’s specifically a Battle Royale comeback mechanic, not the Prison contract in DMZ: Recon. Here’s exactly when you get a duel, what happens when you win and how your squad can get you back if you lose.

How the COD Mobile Verdansk Gulag works

The COD Mobile Verdansk Gulag is a one-on-one fight for a place back in the match. Activision has confirmed the basic process:

  1. Enter a Verdansk Battle Royale match.
  2. When you’re eliminated for the first time, you’re sent to the Gulag.
  3. Wait as a spectator while other players take their turns.
  4. Enter the arena and fight your assigned opponent in a one-on-one battle.
  5. Win to redeploy onto the Verdansk map.
  6. If you lose, wait for a teammate to buy your redeployment at a Buy Station.

The key phrase is first elimination. Activision hasn’t announced unlimited Gulag visits or a second duel after you’ve already been through once. Don’t plan your match on the assumption that every knockout gets another fight.

What happens if you win the COD Mobile Verdansk Gulag?

Win your duel and you return to the ongoing Battle Royale match. Your teammates won’t need to pay to bring you back that first time. After redeploying, head back toward your squad, but pay attention to the new landing point rather than assuming you’ll arrive beside them.

The announcement doesn’t specify what equipment, cash or weapons you keep on returning. That will be clear when the mode launches. For now, the useful advice is to tell your squad you’ve won, so they know you’re coming back and can help you re-equip.

What if you lose your Gulag fight?

If you lose, a teammate must purchase your redeployment at a Buy Station. It’s a different route back from the free first-elimination duel. The surviving squad members need to stay alive and reach a station, which is why protecting the rest of the team matters when someone is sent to the Gulag.

Activision hasn’t given a Buy Station buyback price in its November 4 announcement. You’ll see the actual price in the game’s station menu once Verdansk launches. The COD Mobile Verdansk Gulag guide won’t guess a number or borrow prices from another Call of Duty game.

Can you enter the COD Mobile Verdansk Gulag more than once?

The wording is specific: the first elimination sends you to the Gulag. Nothing in the announcement says you get to fight there again if you’re eliminated after winning. Treat the second chance as something you can use once, with teammate buybacks as the confirmed alternative after a loss.

The publisher also hasn’t specified a starting weapon list or a fixed wait between Gulag duels. You’ll spectate until your turn and then fight one opponent. The COD Mobile Verdansk Gulag is not described as a four-player team battle, and there is no need to memorise an unconfirmed weapon rotation.

Is the Gulag available in DMZ: Recon?

The COD Mobile Verdansk Gulag appears in the publisher’s section about Verdansk Battle Royale. DMZ: Recon uses the same setting but focuses on looting, extraction and objectives involving player and non-player enemies. Its new Chemist and Prison Highlight Contract are not Gulag duels and should not be presented as alternate ways to win this Battle Royale redeployment.

Verdansk has a Prison point of interest, but you don’t have to die at that location to enter the Gulag. Your first elimination can happen elsewhere on the map. For the named landmarks, see our COD Mobile Verdansk Map guide.

How to prepare for your first Gulag duel

If you’re about to fight, focus on winning your single opponent matchup. If you’re waiting, watch the action and be ready when your turn comes. If you’ve lost, let your squad know you need a Buy Station return rather than calling for another Gulag fight.

The COD Mobile Verdansk Gulag is a chance to turn an early mistake into a second attempt at the match, not a guarantee that you can come back every time. Season 10 begins November 11 at 4 PM PST, which is November 12 at midnight GMT for UK players.
