Fortnite Sprite badges are officially called Sprite Stamps. They show how you obtained a particular Sprite, and you can check their meaning by selecting that Sprite and opening View Info in your collection.
The two stamps collectors are talking about are First Edition and Victory Royale. They refer to different ways of getting a Sprite, not different powers. Epic confirms the Stamp system, but the specific unlock rules below come from collector reports rather than its public patch notes.
What are Fortnite Sprite badges?
Each Stamp belongs to an individual Sprite in your collection. It is not a new rarity, a Fortune or Cursed variant, or the crown you see after mastering a Sprite. The Stamp describes how you got it; the mastery crown shows your progress with it.
Fortnite Sprite badges: First Edition versus Victory Royale
Collector reports describe the two Stamps like this. Epic’s public announcement confirms Stamps exist but doesn’t set out these individual unlock conditions:
| Stamp | Collector-reported meaning |
|---|---|
| First Edition | Extract a Sprite that spawned in this match, rather than a resummoned copy. |
| Victory Royale | Extract that particular Sprite through a Victory Royale. |
First Edition is about where the Sprite came from during a match. Victory Royale is about how that particular Sprite was extracted. Winning a match should not be treated as an automatic Stamp for every Sprite in your collection.

How to check Fortnite Sprite badges in View Info
- Open Fortnite’s Sprites collection screen.
- Select the Sprite whose Stamp you’re investigating.
- Look for the badge displayed alongside that Sprite.
- Select View Info to read the game’s own description.
Use the View Info button shown on your own screen. It gives you the description for the Sprite you’ve selected, which is more useful than checking your overall mastery count.
Fortnite Sprite badges: how First Edition works
Collectors describe First Edition as extracting a Sprite that spawned in your current match, rather than one you resummoned from an earlier collection. Be careful with a Sprite picked up off the floor: another player might have dropped it, so that alone doesn’t tell you whether it was a fresh spawn.
For a fresh Sprite hunt, use the Treasure Hunters route Epic actually explains: tear down a Wanted Poster, follow its Sprite Treasure Map and dig up the buried Sprite Chest. This is a confirmed way to find Sprites, not a guarantee of a First Edition Stamp. Other chest types and player drops haven’t been established as reliable Stamp methods either.
If you’re chasing the First Edition Stamp, check View Info on the exact Sprite before trying another run. The Stamp describes the Sprite’s history, not simply whether you picked something up.
Fortnite Sprite badges: how Victory Royale works
For the Victory Royale Stamp, the collector-reported goal is to extract the particular Sprite through a match win. Try carrying the Sprite through to victory, then check its collection entry afterwards, rather than assuming the win updates every Sprite you’ve ever owned.
The exact rules for an earlier manual extraction, an unequipped Sprite or one left in inventory still need checking against the game’s View Info description. Don’t assume those cases work just because you won.
Fortnite Sprite badges versus Sprite mastery rewards
The Treasure tab has its own Sprite Mastery rewards, including the upgradeable Sprite Mastery Strongbox Back Bling. Epic confirms that mastering 40 Sprites unlocks Navigator’s Nosedive Umbrella. Those are mastery goals, not Stamp unlocks.
Victory Royale is also the name of a Stamp, not the same thing as a Victory Crown, Crown Sprite or win umbrella. And Sprite Stamps don’t have any announced effect on Pirate Shop Access drops.
Why is a Sprite Stamp missing?
Start with View Info on the Sprite you’re checking. Under the reported rules, resummoning an old copy wouldn’t earn First Edition, and winning with a different Sprite wouldn’t automatically earn Victory Royale on this one.
Epic has not publicly explained whether both Stamps can sit on the same Sprite, or whether you can add one to an entry you’ve already collected. Avoid treating a missing Stamp as a game bug without checking the in-game description.
Fortnite Sprite badges: quick answers
Does any buried Sprite Chest guarantee First Edition?
No guarantee is published for buried Sprite Chests. They are a way to find Sprites, not a confirmed First Edition shortcut.
Do badges increase Pirate Shop drop rates?
Epic has announced no connection between the two. Pirate Shop Access has separate, undisclosed drop odds.
Can I collect First Edition and Victory Royale together?
Epic hasn’t specified that in the public notes. Check the individual Sprite’s View Info.
To check Fortnite Sprite badges, open the individual Sprite’s View Info screen. It tells you far more than the collection’s mastery count or the result of your last match.
