The main event of WrestleMania 38 saw Kevin Owens host the KO Show with his special guest Stone Cold Steve Austin.

For many weeks, fans have been speculating as to whether Stone Cold Steve Austin would be stepping back into the ring for a match for the first time in 19 years when he retired following a match with The Rock at WrestleMania 19.

To close out the show, Stone Cold Steve Austin came to the ring on a quad bike to sit down and have a chat with Kevin Owens, but Owens wasn’t just looking for a chat, he was looking for a fight.

After talking smack about Texas, Kevin Owens challenged Stone Cold Steve Austin to a No Holds Barred match at the Showcase of the Immortals.

Austin accepted the match, calling for a referee to come to the ring and start the match. For the first time since 2003, Austin was back in the ring competing.

The early part of the match consisted of Austin stomping a mudhole on Kevin Owens and having a couple of beer breaks.

Austin has definitely lost a step or two and moved around much slower, but that is to expected with him being 57 years old and out of action for nearly two decades, but the match was never designed to be a five-star classic.

One of the most physical parts of the match saw Kevin Owens be thrown through a table and also the two took a trip through the crowd while they brawled.

In one of the more surprising twists, Austin took a suplex onto the concrete while in the crowd, not something that was expected as many will have believed it would be a glorified squash with theatrics.

The fight continued with Owens and Austin taking a ride of Steve’s bike up the ramp before Austin resumed the beating, delivering another couple of Suplexes on the stage. In terms of wrestling moves, Suplexes have been as technical as things have gotten, but after nearly two decades away from the ring and a multitude of neck and back problems, I didn’t really expect to see a wrestling clinic.

The action eventually made its way back into the ring and then Kevin Owens hit a surprise Stunner on Austin almost scoring the win.

Austin then ducked a chair shot and hit his own Stone Cold Stunner for the win, marking his first win since 2003.

To close out the show, Austin hit a Stunner on Byron Saxton and drank beer in the ring with his brother.

This will likely be the last match Stone Cold Steve Austin ever has, but it was a lot of fun and I’m so glad it happened.
