The most reliable way to unlock Peak of Vindagnyr in Genshin Impact is to clear the prerequisites first and then follow the local route in order. Before travelling across Dragonspine for Peak of Vindagnyr, check these conditions so you do not arrive at a locked door, empty cave or inactive mechanism.
- Reach Adventure Rank 30 for the domain.
- Start In the Mountains with Iris at the Dragonspine adventurer camp.
- Learn that Scarlet Quartz is needed to damage the special ancient ice.
Step-by-step route
- Complete the first strange-ice objective on Snow-Covered Path.
- Thaw the additional shards at Entombed City Outskirts and Starglow Cavern.
- Follow the quest to the mountain summit after the blocked wind current clears.
- Use Scarlet Quartz again to thaw the final shard pieces around Skyfrost Nail.
- Raise the Nail and activate Peak of Vindagnyr when the domain entrance appears.
Players who want to unlock Peak of Vindagnyr in Genshin Impact should keep the active quest or exploration objective tracked while moving between these steps. Around Peak of Vindagnyr, vertical map layers, hidden cave entrances and state-based mechanics can matter more than horizontal distance, so check the map layer as well as the marker.
The domain cannot be opened by climbing straight to the summit before the quest has changed Dragonspine’s barriers.
Scarlet Quartz removes the special ice only while its red aura is active, so carry each shard from a nearby crystal to the target.
Why it can still look locked or incomplete
If Peak of Vindagnyr is still buried, check whether all three lower shards were thawed and whether the summit section of In the Mountains has been completed.
If you still cannot unlock Peak of Vindagnyr in Genshin Impact, compare your current objective with the prerequisite list before restarting the game. For Peak of Vindagnyr, a missing quest flag is not fixed by repeating the final puzzle, and a hidden entrance will not appear just because the destination icon is visible.
Useful details before you leave the area
Completing In the Mountains also improves access to the Dragonspine summit and surrounding exploration.
Once you unlock Peak of Vindagnyr in Genshin Impact, activate the nearest Teleport Waypoint, domain marker or permanent shortcut before moving on. That turns later material farming, quest cleanup and collectible hunting around Peak of Vindagnyr into a short return instead of a repeat of the full unlock route.
