The Division 2 Bloody Houndsman returns during Red Moon Unleashed, which runs from October 15 to November 3, 2026. Kill enough Moon Cultists around Washington, D.C. and he can be one of the bosses drawn into the city, bringing back his Mask, Gloves, Backpack and Uniform alongside the new Bat Drone Skill VFX.
Unlike the Necromancer and Risen Hunter, Bloody Houndsman gives no Event Key. This is a cosmetic hunt: beat him for the full Houndsman set, Bat Drone effect and regular Hunter loot.
How to find The Division 2 Bloody Houndsman
Start by hunting Moon Cultists in the open world while Red Moon Unleashed is active. Ubisoft says defeating enough of them can bring out one of the three event bosses: the Necromancer, Risen Hunter or Bloody Houndsman.
Moon Cultists can appear among Hyenas, True Sons, Outcasts, Black Tusk and Underground groups around D.C. Heavy Storms and Blood Storms bring more of them onto the streets, giving you more chances to push toward a boss encounter.

One kill gives you the whole named cosmetic package in the table above, plus the Bat Drone Skill VFX and normal Hunter loot. There is no separate percentage roll for those Houndsman cosmetics.
There is also no 80/20 Exotic split like the other Red Moon bosses use. If you are after Sarru or Vertigo, this is the wrong fight; The Division 2 Bloody Houndsman is the one to chase for his outfit and skill effect.
How to get the Bat Drone Skill VFX
Defeat The Division 2 Bloody Houndsman and the Bat Drone Skill VFX is included in his guaranteed reward set. You are not waiting on a second drop chance after the boss dies.
The Bat Drone effect belongs to this boss encounter. Ubisoft does not list it in the Event Vendor, Revenant Bounties or Red Moon Gear Caches.
Does Bloody Houndsman drop an Event Key?
No. The Division 2 Bloody Houndsman is the only one of the three main Red Moon bosses that gives no Event Key. Necromancer and Risen Hunter each award one.
So if you are pushing the 200-key personal track, spend your boss-farming time on the other two. Houndsman is here for the cosmetic set, Bat Drone VFX and Hunter loot.
Why older Bloody Houndsman guides mention Mini Warhounds
Older Bloody Houndsman pages can send you looking for Mini Warhounds because that was the route during February 2026’s Bloody Valentine event. Back then, Mini Warhounds could drop a Houndsman bounty that revealed the boss when activated.
The October Red Moon event works differently. The current Ubisoft notes tell you to kill Moon Cultists until one of the event bosses is drawn out, so the old Mini Warhound bounty method belongs to the earlier event.

The Division 2 Bloody Houndsman is part of Red Moon Unleashed, which ends on November 3, 2026. Ubisoft has not announced a permanent version of this October boss encounter after the event closes.
