The Division 2 Shepherd XP x3 event runs from October 13 to October 20, 2026. Answer Calls for Backup while it is live and the Shepherd XP you earn is tripled, helping you fill the bar and reach endorsement opportunities much faster.
There is no project to activate first. Set your On Call Status so backup requests can reach you, join another Agent’s session and earn XP while helping them. Expertise Surge takes over when the Shepherd event ends on October 20.
How The Division 2 Shepherd XP x3 event works
Shepherd XP starts building after you answer another player’s Call for Backup. XP earned from activities in that Agent’s session fills the separate Shepherd bar.
During The Division 2 Shepherd XP x3 week, that bar fills at triple the usual rate. Hitting the endorsement threshold sooner means you can move through Shepherd ranks faster if you keep answering calls.
How to answer Calls for Backup
Open the SHD tab on the Mega Map and change your On Call Status. Ubisoft gives you three settings:

Set On Call to All if you want the biggest pool of requests. Incoming calls appear in the bottom-left of the screen, and opening the Mega Map shows the request before you join.
How to matchmake for random Calls for Backup
Open the Mega Map’s Matchmake tab and choose Random Calls for Backup if you would rather let matchmaking find someone automatically. Once it finds a request, you are moved into that Agent’s session.
Fast travelling between maps or entering a No Respawn Zone inside a mission cancels the search. Start Random Calls for Backup again if you move areas while waiting.
How Shepherd XP and endorsements work
Once you join, activity XP fills the Shepherd bar. When it reaches the threshold, the game awards an automatic endorsement and the host can choose to give you one more.
Endorsements are what move your Shepherd Rank forward. You can see your current Shepherd Rank and endorsement count from the SHD tab of the Mega Map.
Can friends and clan members endorse you?
No. Friends and clan members cannot give Shepherd endorsements. You can still use the Friends & Clan On Call setting to help people you know, but those sessions will not raise your endorsement total in the same way.
If you are using The Division 2 Shepherd XP x3 specifically to raise Shepherd Rank, answer calls from Agents outside your friends and clan lists so the endorsement system can count the session.
Does triple Shepherd XP mean triple endorsements?
The event multiplies Shepherd XP, not endorsements. Triple XP gets the Shepherd bar to its automatic endorsement threshold faster.
The host’s optional endorsement stays separate. One host endorsement is still one endorsement even while the XP multiplier is running.
What should you play while helping another Agent?
Any XP-paying content completed in the other Agent’s session helps fill the Shepherd bar. Stay with the player who called and help finish the mission or open-world activity they are working on instead of leaving as soon as you join.
The Division 2 Shepherd XP x3 event is therefore fastest when you are actively clearing content with the host, because that activity XP is what moves the Shepherd meter.
When does The Division 2 Shepherd XP x3 end?
The Division 2 Shepherd XP x3 event ends on October 20, 2026. Expertise Surge starts the same day and runs until October 27 with double upgrade materials from all sources.
