Discord is currently experiencing some issues with its API, which has translated to attempted message failure to deliver errors.

What’s up with the Discord message failure errors?

Making use of the Discord Status tool here, we can see what exactly is going on. If you’d rather skip the link, I’ll show you what it says below so you can get an idea for yourself.

Based on what Discord Status has to say, it would seem that there’s a major API failure ongoing caused by an investigation of another issue.

While investigations into a general error increase began around an hour back, it would seem that the controlled restart has caused or otherwise brought to light quite a large additional issue, resulting in what we’re now seeing with the ongoing Discord message failure errors.

Is there anything else?

Major discord API outages like this are quite rare, so it’s quite a surprise to see this come out of nowhere as it has done.

In any case, Discord seems to have kept their engineering team around judging by the monitoring note shown above, so it’s unlikely the issue will last particularly long – and it likely would have been around with us a fair bit longer had they not done so, so credit to Discord for that preparation is due. For the moment though, we’re stuck with these message sending failure errors with Discord regardless, so all we can do is simply wait it out, I suppose.

See you on Steam messaging, anyone?
