Star Wars Zero Company Advantage is a shared combat resource earned whenever one of your Operators damages an enemy. The entire squad contributes to the same Advantage pool, which can hold a maximum of 10 points and is used to activate some of the most powerful abilities available during Tactical Missions.
Unlike Action Points, Advantage belongs to the whole squad rather than an individual Operator. Spending it on one character therefore leaves less available for everybody else, making the order in which you use Advantage abilities an important part of combat.
| Advantage mechanic | How it works |
|---|---|
| How to earn Advantage | Damage enemies |
| Advantage per damaging attack | 1 |
| Maximum Advantage | 10 |
| Who owns Advantage | Entire squad |
| Main use | Special combat abilities |
| Uses normal Action Points | Generally no |

What Is Star Wars Zero Company Advantage?
Star Wars Zero Company Advantage is essentially a second resource used alongside the normal Action Point system.
Each Operator begins a turn with three Action Points. Those AP can be spent on actions including movement, attacks, Utilities and abilities.
Advantage works differently.
Instead of every Operator having an individual supply, all four members of your deployed squad contribute to and spend from one shared Advantage pool.
Lead Designer James Brawley explained that many of the squad’s special abilities consume Advantage rather than Action Points. This allows an Operator to perform a powerful Advantage ability without using up the normal actions available to them during that turn.

How to Get Advantage in Star Wars Zero Company
You earn Star Wars Zero Company Advantage by damaging enemies.
Every time one of your Operators successfully damages an enemy, one point is added to the squad’s Advantage pool. It doesn’t matter which member of the squad makes the attack because the resulting Advantage belongs to everybody.
This means Advantage builds naturally as a battle progresses.
The system deliberately prevents you from opening every encounter by immediately unleashing all of your strongest abilities. Your squad first needs to successfully attack enemies and build the resource required to use them.
What Is the Maximum Advantage?
The maximum Star Wars Zero Company Advantage is 10.
Once the shared meter reaches 10, the squad has reached its confirmed Advantage capacity.
Because every Operator draws from that same pool, reaching 10 does not mean each of your four characters suddenly has 10 Advantage available.
There are 10 points available between the entire squad.
If one Operator uses an ability costing a large amount of Advantage, those points are removed from the pool and are no longer available to another Operator.
What Is Advantage Used For?
Advantage activates special Operator abilities during combat.
Confirmed examples of what Advantage abilities can do include:
- Granting an additional Action Point to an ally for the current turn
- Calling in a rocket strike
- Temporarily increasing Chance-to-Hit for the entire squad
- Taunting nearby enemies into attacking a particular Operator
The exact abilities available depend on the Operators and builds in your squad.
Advantage therefore isn’t simply another form of damage meter. It can be spent on offensive, defensive and support effects.
Do Advantage Abilities Cost Action Points?
Many Advantage abilities use Advantage instead of Action Points.
This distinction is one of the most important parts of the system.
An Operator normally has three AP available during their turn. Using an ability powered purely by Advantage does not take those points away, allowing the character to continue using their normal actions afterwards.
For example, a squad member could use an Advantage-powered ability and still retain their Action Points for movement, attacks or other actions.
The two resources therefore work alongside one another rather than Advantage simply replacing AP.
How Do Action Points and Advantage Differ?
Action Points belong to individual Operators.
Advantage belongs to the squad.
| Resource | Action Points | Advantage |
|---|---|---|
| Owned by | Individual Operator | Whole squad |
| Normal amount | 3 per Operator | Built during combat |
| Maximum | 3 normally per turn | 10 shared |
| Used for movement | Yes | No |
| Used for normal attacks | Yes | No |
| Used for special abilities | Some | Yes |
| Generated by damaging enemies | No | Yes |
Each Operator receives three Action Points per round and can spend them on actions in whatever order the player chooses.
Advantage sits on top of that system, providing access to additional abilities as your squad successfully attacks enemies.
Is Advantage Shared Between Operators?
Yes.
There is only one Star Wars Zero Company Advantage pool for the deployed squad.
That creates a direct trade-off whenever multiple Operators have Advantage abilities available.
Brawley gave the example of choosing between spending Advantage on a soldier’s rocket attack or saving those same points so a Medic can use Morale Boost to provide regeneration to the team.
Using one ability can therefore prevent you from immediately using another.
Does Every Attack Generate Advantage?
An Operator must damage an enemy to add Advantage to the shared pool.
Simply taking an action does not generate it.
The developers specifically describe Advantage as being earned when an Operator damages an enemy, with each successful damaging attack adding one point to the squad resource.
That means missed attacks do not meet the confirmed condition for generating Advantage.
Can Advantage Give You More Action Points?
Yes.
One of the confirmed uses for Advantage is granting an ally an additional Action Point for the current turn.
This is particularly notable because Operators normally have three AP available.
The ability effectively converts part of the squad’s shared combat resource into additional flexibility for one character.
It is not the same as permanently increasing that Operator’s normal AP. The additional point applies to the current turn.
Can Advantage Increase Chance-to-Hit?
Yes.
A confirmed Advantage ability can temporarily improve Chance-to-Hit for the entire squad.
Chance-to-Hit is also affected by battlefield factors including positioning, cover, flanking and high ground.
The Advantage ability provides another way to influence accuracy when the squad has built enough of the resource to activate it.
Can You Use Advantage for Rocket Strikes?
Yes.
Rocket strikes are one of the offensive examples specifically given by the developers when explaining the Advantage system.
Because Advantage is shared, however, using a costly offensive ability means giving up the opportunity to spend those same points on another Operator’s support ability until the resource has been rebuilt.
Can Advantage Be Used Defensively?
Yes.
Not every Advantage ability is designed purely to cause damage.
The developers have confirmed abilities that can taunt enemies into attacking one Operator, improve squad accuracy and provide support effects such as regeneration.
This gives the shared pool several possible uses depending on what is happening during the current battle.
Why Does Advantage Start as a Separate Resource?
The developers designed Advantage to create momentum during combat.
Because it is generated by successfully damaging enemies, your squad cannot immediately begin every battle by firing off its strongest special abilities.
Instead, normal tactical actions build the resource needed for more powerful options later in the encounter.
That creates a deliberate distinction between the three Action Points available to each Operator and the more limited pool of powerful squad abilities.
Does Advantage Affect Squad Composition?
Every Operator uses the same shared Advantage pool, so abilities available across the squad are competing for the same resource.
This means two Operators can both have powerful Advantage abilities available without necessarily being able to activate both immediately.
The important factual point is that Advantage is not allocated separately to each character. Any Advantage spent by one Operator reduces what remains available to the other three.

How Star Wars Zero Company Advantage Works
Star Wars Zero Company Advantage is earned one point at a time by damaging enemies, with a maximum of 10 held in a single pool shared by the squad.
Those points can then power some of the squad’s strongest abilities without consuming the normal Action Points used for movement, attacks and other actions. Because every Operator draws from the same pool, spending Advantage on one character directly affects which abilities the rest of the squad can use until more Advantage is generated.
