Slasher Update Download Size is enormous: 119 GB on Steam, 119.7 GB on Microsoft Store, 101 GB on Xbox and 92.2 GB on PlayStation.
The important twist is that the patch is large in order to make Fallout 76 smaller after installation. This is not 100-plus GB of new Slasher quests, textures and Season 26 content.
Slasher Update Download Size by platform
Slasher Update Download Size is 119 GB on Steam, Microsoft Store 119.7 GB, Xbox 101 GB and PlayStation 92.2 GB for update version 1.7.26.13.
Platform packaging and compression explain why the numbers differ even though everyone receives the same major feature update.
Why is the download almost the whole game?
Bethesda is repackaging Fallout 76 across every platform to reduce its overall installed footprint. That requires replacing large portions of existing game archives rather than downloading only newly changed quest files.
Large download size therefore does not equal large net storage growth.
Do you need that much free space?
Your platform needs enough temporary room to download, unpack and replace files safely. The exact free-space requirement can be larger than the final patch number because consoles and PC launchers manage installation differently.
If the update refuses to start, freeing additional disk space is safer than assuming the listed patch size is the only storage requirement.
Native PS5 and Xbox Series versions
The same update also launches native Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions. Bethesda says accessing those native console versions requires downloading the entire game from the relevant store.
Console players should therefore distinguish between patching an existing install and deliberately switching to the new native version.
Will the final game be 119 GB bigger?
No. Bethesda says the opposite: once repackaging is complete, Fallout 76 should occupy less space than it did before the update.
The download replaces old packaged data rather than stacking 119 GB permanently on top of the existing installation.
Why this matters on slower connections
A 92-120 GB download can still take hours on slower broadband or capped connections even though it reduces final disk usage. Plan for the network transfer separately from the final storage benefit.
The patch is large even if you only want one feature
You cannot selectively download only The Slasher quest or Legacy Seasons. Fallout 76 The Slasher Update Download Size reflects the repackaged base game, so even players uninterested in the new story still receive the large platform update.
That is normal for archive repacks and does not mean your account downloaded extra optional DLC.
Slasher Update Download Size versus free disk space
Slasher Update Download Size is not necessarily the exact amount of free disk space your launcher needs during installation. Repacking can temporarily require room for downloaded archives and old files at the same time before cleanup removes superseded data.
If a 119 GB Steam download refuses to unpack on a drive with barely 119 GB free, create more headroom rather than assuming the patch listing is wrong.
Slasher Update Download Size is not new-content size
Slasher Update Download Size includes replacement copies of base-game archives because Bethesda is reorganising the installation. It does not mean The Slasher story, Season 26 and Legacy Seasons collectively added more than 100 GB of new art and audio.
The final installed game is explicitly supposed to become smaller.
