Shundo Pokémon GO is player slang for a Pokémon that is both Shiny and a perfect 100% IV catch. In practical terms, that means the Pokémon has the alternate Shiny appearance and an appraisal of 15 Attack, 15 Defense and 15 HP. Neither part causes the other, which is exactly why finding both on one Pokémon feels so special.

What does Shundo Pokémon GO mean?
The word combines “Shiny” and “hundo.” A hundo is a 15/15/15 Pokémon with 100% IVs, while a Shiny has the rare alternate coloration for that species. A Shundo Pokémon GO catch satisfies both conditions at the same time. It can still have an ordinary moveset, level or size; those are separate properties.
You can confirm the perfect-IV half with the in-game appraisal. All three stat bars need to be completely filled. The Pokémon storage search term 4* is also useful for finding perfect Pokémon. Then check that the Pokémon is actually Shiny. A Shundo Pokémon GO collection can therefore be filtered by combining your perfect-IV and Shiny searches rather than relying on a nickname.
How rare is a Shundo?
There is no honest single answer for the odds of a Shundo Pokémon GO encounter because both Shiny odds and IV floors depend on how the Pokémon was obtained. A wild Pokémon with unrestricted IVs has far more possible appraisal combinations than a raid, Egg or research encounter that starts from a higher IV floor. Shiny rates also vary by species and event.
That means “one in X” claims are only valid when the encounter method and Shiny rate are specified. Raids or research can improve the perfect-IV side because their IV floor is higher, while Community Days and selected events can dramatically improve the Shiny side through boosted Shiny rates. A Shundo Pokémon GO catch is still rare even when one half of the equation is boosted.
| Property | Required for a Shundo? |
|---|---|
| Shiny | Yes |
| 15 Attack IV | Yes |
| 15 Defense IV | Yes |
| 15 HP IV | Yes |
| XXL/XXS | No |
| Lucky or background | No |
Can you get a Shundo from a trade?
Yes, but you cannot safely trade an existing Shundo Pokémon GO catch and expect it to stay a hundo. Trading rerolls IVs. The Shiny status remains, but the 15/15/15 appraisal can change. Conversely, a traded Shiny can become a hundo after the reroll, which is one route to creating a new shundo.
Lucky Trades are attractive for Shiny Pokémon because Lucky Pokémon have a much higher minimum IV floor than ordinary catches and cost less Stardust to power up. They still do not guarantee a perfect appraisal. If you already own a Shundo Pokémon GO Pokémon, treat its IV combination as something you can lose through trading rather than something permanently attached like its Shiny status.
Is a shundo always the best Pokémon to use?
Not automatically. A Shundo Pokémon GO catch is a brilliant trophy, but battle usefulness still depends on species, moves, level and the format you are playing. A perfect legendary or top raid attacker can be extremely useful; a perfect Shiny species with poor battle stats can remain mostly a collector piece. In capped GO Battle League formats, lower Attack IV spreads can even be preferable to 15/15/15 for some species.
That is why most players celebrate a Shundo Pokémon GO catch for what it is: two desirable rarity traits landing on the same individual Pokémon. Favorite it immediately, consider giving it a unique tag, and double-check before transferring or trading anything from a mass-selection screen.
Hyper Training adds one modern wrinkle: improving stats later is not the same thing as originally catching a natural 15/15/15. If you care about collector terminology, most players use Shundo Pokémon GO for a Shiny Pokémon whose appraisal is genuinely perfect, rather than treating every stat-improved Pokémon as the same trophy. The game can change how stat-improvement features are presented, so the original appraisal and catch history still matter to collectors.
For current events and availability, check the official Pokémon GO website, because collectible backgrounds, featured species and Showcase eligibility can change from event to event.
