Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026 returns to the wild in its Spooky Festival costume during Halloween 2026 Part II. The event starts November 1 at 10am local time and finishes November 5 at 8pm. Niantic lists the costumed Gengar as a Pokémon lucky players may encounter, and it can be Shiny.

This is a returning costume, not one of 2026’s new outfits. Its encounter method also differs from the Pikachu and Sinistea costumes found in one-star raids. If you want to collect Gengar’s Spooky Festival look, concentrate on wild encounters during the second Halloween phase.

How to get Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026 wearing the Spooky Festival outfit

The confirmed method is finding costumed Gengar in the wild during Halloween Part II. Niantic identifies Gengar wearing a Spooky Festival costume as an encounter you might see if you’re lucky. When a Gengar appears on your map, tap it and check the outfit on the encounter screen before catching it.

Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026 doesn’t have a published guaranteed spawn point or encounter rate. Checking places with ordinary Pokémon spawns gives you opportunities, but there isn’t an officially announced Gengar-only Lure, habitat or guaranteed hour. Our Halloween wild spawns guide explains the other event species sharing the map.

Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026 dates and UK start times

The costume is a featured possible wild encounter from Sunday, November 1, at 10am until Thursday, November 5, at 8pm local time. In Britain, that means GMT throughout, because the clocks go back on October 25. The event’s first phase ends immediately when Part II begins, so the new featured spawn list takes over at that point.

For the wider schedule, see our Halloween Part II guide. The earlier Halloween Part I guide covers wild Pokémon such as top-hat Zubat and Halloween Mischief Piplup, which are featured in the first phase instead.

Can Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026 be Shiny?

Yes. The official Part II announcement marks the returning Gengar costume as Shiny eligible. It does not state an exact Shiny probability, and the costume itself is described as a possible lucky wild encounter. You may need to check several wild Gengar before finding the outfit, and any individual costumed encounter isn’t guaranteed to be Shiny.

A regular Shiny Gengar won’t acquire the Spooky Festival outfit when Halloween begins. If you want the seasonal version, catch the Pokémon wearing the costume and check its appearance before transferring duplicates. The Halloween costume guide explains which other outfits are returning and which are new in 2026.

Is Spooky Festival Gengar in Halloween raids?

Not in the named one-star raid lineup for Halloween Part II. The announced one-star bosses are Pikachu wearing a hat and capelet and Sinistea wearing a bow. The Gengar outfit is instead listed under possible wild encounters, so raiding either of those bosses won’t produce Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026 as the encounter reward.

Halloween also includes Field Research offering Pokémon encounters, but Niantic hasn’t published every task and reward in advance. The official Part II announcement does not establish a specific Field Research task for Spooky Festival Gengar. The same applies to the full Halloween GO Pass reward chart, whose exact Pokémon assignments need live confirmation.

Can you evolve an ordinary Haunter into the costume?

No encounter method has been announced that allows ordinary Haunter to evolve directly into an event-costumed Gengar. Evolving a Pokémon along its normal species line doesn’t by itself add a seasonal outfit. For Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026, the announced method is finding the already-costumed Gengar in the wild during Part II.

To collect Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026, look for the costumed encounter itself rather than evolving an ordinary Gastly. Keep a costumed catch separately if you’re maintaining a collection of limited-time Pokémon designs. Niantic hasn’t assigned the Spooky Festival outfit a special exclusive move or extra stats in this announcement.

Do catch Candy and Stardust bonuses apply?

Once you unlock Rank 10 of the Halloween GO Pass, the free reward track grants 2× Candy from catching Pokémon, or 3× with Deluxe. Rank 20 grants 2× catch Stardust on the free track or 3× with Deluxe. Those bonuses can increase rewards when you catch Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026, but they don’t raise its confirmed spawn rate or Shiny odds.

The free GO Pass is available automatically from October 27, and progression lasts until November 5 at 8pm local time. You can therefore unlock the catch bonuses before the Gengar hunt begins. Paid Deluxe access is optional and isn’t required for the advertised wild encounter.

What if Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026 isn’t appearing?

Check the date first. This outfit is featured in the second Halloween phase, not the first, so searching before November 1 at 10am isn’t the announced encounter window. Then check wild spawns rather than looking exclusively for raids. Gengar’s listing as a lucky encounter means you may not see it immediately.

The announcement names no specific habitat or time of day guaranteeing this costume. Try checking fresh groups of wild Pokémon while exploring, and look closely at any Gengar you encounter. A standard Gengar is not automatically wearing the Spooky Festival outfit just because it appeared during Halloween.

Other Part II hunts worth combining with Gengar

Pokémon GO Halloween Gengar 2026 shares the event period with Shiny Greavard’s debut and the return of a costumed Rowlet in the wild. Pikachu and Sinistea still appear in one-star raids if you’re missing their new outfits. You can check multiple collection goals during the same session without assuming they all use the same encounter method.

Make sure you complete your Gengar checks before November 5 at 8pm local time. If you find the costume you want, preserve that catch and keep playing for the other event Pokémon and GO Pass milestones.
