The over the hill console versions are officially coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Funselektor has named all three platforms, so this isn’t a rumour based on a stray trailer or an unconfirmed store listing. The catch is that console players won’t be joining the October 14 PC launch.
Instead, the developer has announced a broader 2027 window. There’s no specific day yet, and questions about console pricing, graphics performance and crossplay haven’t all been settled. Here’s what has actually been confirmed and why the Steam date shouldn’t be used for the console ports.
When is the over the hill console release?
2027 is the confirmed over the hill console release window. Funselektor announced PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 in its August release-date announcement, then repeated the plans in the official Steam FAQ. It hasn’t specified a month or day for any of them.
The PC game launches on 14 October 2026 via Steam. That date belongs to the Windows version, not a worldwide console launch. There’s also no announcement saying all three console editions will arrive on exactly the same day in 2027.
Is over the hill coming to PlayStation 5?
Yes, PS5 is confirmed for 2027. The studio has named the platform directly, so PlayStation players can expect a port. What isn’t confirmed is a precise release day, final UK price, download size or list of PS5 graphics modes.
There is no announced PS4 version. That’s not a claim it could never exist, only that the current over the hill console roadmap specifies PlayStation 5. It’s important not to turn a PS5 announcement into an assumed release for older hardware.
Is over the hill coming to Xbox Series X and S?
Yes, Xbox Series X|S is also confirmed for 2027. Funselektor hasn’t announced different launch days for Series X and Series S, or explained how resolution and frame rates will compare between them. Console-specific technical information will have to wait.
There is also no confirmed Xbox Game Pass announcement. Appearing in Xbox promotional coverage does not automatically mean the game will join the subscription catalogue. The over the hill console confirmation is for the hardware platform, not a particular payment or subscription option.
Is the over the hill console release coming to Nintendo Switch 2?
Nintendo Switch 2 is part of the official 2027 plan. The developer did not announce an edition for the original Nintendo Switch, so the two generations shouldn’t be treated as interchangeable.
There’s no confirmed Switch 2 eShop price, exact release day, battery-life estimate or handheld frame-rate target yet. Those questions make sense for a portable driving game, but they require information about the final Switch 2 build rather than guesses based on PC specifications.
All confirmed platforms and release windows
| Platform | Confirmed timing |
|---|---|
| Windows PC via Steam | 14 October 2026 |
| PlayStation 5 | 2027 |
| Xbox Series X|S | 2027 |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | 2027 |
No PlayStation 4, Xbox One or original Nintendo Switch port has been announced. These are the four confirmed platform families when counting the PC launch and future ports together. The over the hill console release doesn’t currently have a more detailed calendar.
Will the console versions have four-player multiplayer?
The game supports online co-op for four people in total, as well as solo exploration. The developer’s FAQ also mentions crossplay. However, exact console-to-PC combinations, account requirements and timing for the 2027 ports haven’t been fully documented.
That means nobody should promise that an Xbox friend can join a particular PS5 or PC player on a specified launch day before the developer has provided those details. The over the hill console roadmap is confirmed, while precise future matchmaking arrangements are not.
How much will over the hill cost on consoles?
Funselektor has confirmed $24.99 USD as the regular Steam price, with regional pricing and a launch discount. That isn’t an official retail price for PS5, Xbox or Switch 2. Different platforms and regions can have different offers.
A $9.99 soundtrack and $9.99 Supporter Pack have been announced for Steam. Their availability on consoles is not yet confirmed. It’s better to wait for official platform prices than assume every PC bundle will transfer unchanged.
Can you preorder an over the hill console version?
There are no pre-orders for the October PC release. Funselektor hasn’t established a separate preorder policy for all of the 2027 ports. A trailer or wishlist page doesn’t prove that paying for a console copy is already possible.
If you’re trying to play as soon as possible, Steam is the confirmed first launch. If you’d rather play on console, follow the developer’s official news for a real date and platform features. The over the hill console versions are coming, but there’s no benefit in inventing information that hasn’t been announced.
