Today PlayStation held their signature showcase State of Play featuring games coming to PlayStation consoles in the near future. Deathloop was seen in this State of Play update and well as several other games but let’s focus on one in particular from Bethesda and Arkane Studios.

At today’s State of Play we got a theme song as well as gameplay and a new trailer for Deathloop.

Deathloop has one year exclusivity with PlayStation, releasing on PlayStation 5 and PC at launch on May 21st, 2021 and expected to hit other consoles, like Xbox after the exclusivity deal has ended.

Deathloop is a single-player, and optional two-player, game focused on 60’s era themes and a endless time loop.

Deathloop places you and 8 others on an Black Reef seemingly repeating the party fueled night they had.. day after day after day causing the people on the island to have no second thoughts about their actions.

You play as Cole, the only person who can seem to remember anything, and must figure out a way to kill all but one person on the island to break the timeloop containing them all there.

While it’s a single player narrative, the game has an interesting multiplayer option. This is called an option and not a mode because by enabling this option, you are opting in for another player to join your game as Julianna.

Julianna is the only person besides Cole that is aware of the timeloop, and she is there to contain it and therefore leaving you trapped in the timeloop with the others.

Personally, the animations and movements remind me a bit of the BioShock series, more specifically BioShock Infinite.

However Deathloop looks like its going to be a real challenge that I for one may not conquer but I know this game has sparked high interest in many.

Overall, Deathloop looks incredible and has a highly original concept that is sure to be a hit with the recent growing appreciation for Among Us and games like it. Along with all of the other games aside from Deathloop in this State of Play update, PlayStation sure has some interesting titles coming in the near future.
