Pokemon Go is launching a handful of things to make wonderful travel memories, including the first regional costume and Shiny Corsola.

The event overview; Costume Pikachu and Shiny Corsola

The information is this section is no longer correct, but did reflect the originally planned times. Please see the Event Update section below for any further details as they emerge.

Both the addition of Okinawan Kariushi shirt costume Pikachu and Shiny Corsola to Pokemon Go are expected on July 22nd at 12:00 AM Local time.

The listed end of the event seems to be July 21st 2022, so we can presume that the new costumed Pikachu is timed as well as being only available in a specific region.

As a shiny release, Corsola is more likely to be staying around long term even after the event, as most shinies do not get removed from the game again after being added in, though the odd exception does exist.

Event Update

The release of this event has seemingly been delayed until further notice, there is little information at this time.

Pokemon Go Shiny Corsola release

Pokemon Go is adding Shiny Corsola as a sort of bundled in extra with the release of the new Pikachu costume.

As per usual with Corsola, it’s found between 26* and 36* latitude near the sea – meaning if you’ve never seen a Corsola before, there’s a solid chance it’s simply not available near you, and therefore the shiny might not be either.

Okinawan Kariuhsi Shirt Pikachu

Okinawan Kariuhsi Shirt Pikachu is a special costume variant of Pikachu that will be appearing in Pokemon Go from the event date of July 22.

This variant of Pikachu will be appearing in Okinawa, Japan for around a year at least, and is likely to be the start of Niantic, Inc. introducing other regional-based costumes, given the following statement:

Just like with the Pikachu wearing a kariyushi shirt, we’re looking to introduce more costumed Pokémon that are available only in certain regions of the world, so please keep an eye out for more news!

Is there anything else?

Not in particular, the only real other detail is that the Pokemon Company launched a “Pokemon Air Adventures” project in Japan with the release of that Pikachu Costume. It seems likely to be something they’re going to expand, so there may be a costume Pokemon appearing much closer to you in the near future.

Outside of that, we’ve covered pretty much everything. Best of luck to those trainers in the right slice of the world to hunt down a Shiny Corsola!
