Pokemon Go: How to evolve Seadra into Kingdra

Kingdra is the Gen-II final evolution of Horsea, but how exactly do you get Kingdra in Pokemon Go? What item do you need for it?

Fortunately, this will be pretty easy to answer and a very easy decision for players, as Kingdra is both quite strong and the only Pokemon to use this particular evolution item, so let’s get right into it.

How to get Kingdra in Pokemon Go

As with any other item-locked evolution, you’ll need to fulfil two separate requirements to get Kingdra in Pokemon Go. First of all, of course, you’ll need a Horsea or Seadra to evolve into Kingdra in the first place.

Though you’ll likely need to catch quite a few more than just the one, as the leap from Seadra to Kingdra will run you 100 candies alone, and an additional 25 if you’re starting from Horsea instead. On the upside, by the time you’ve caught enough Horsea for the candy, you’ll be spoiled for choice of which one to evolve to Kingdra.

Of course, you can speed up the candy gathering by using Pinap berries, or rare candy. Though I’d really recommend saving those rare candies for legendary Pokemon or the like, to be honest.

With the Pokemon and Candy out of the way, next up you’ll be needing a Dragon scale, which we’ll talk about next.

I’ve talked more about the Dragon Scale item in the linked article above, though realistically there wasn’t a lot to talk about. They are exclusively used to evolve Seadra into Kingdra, so unless you’re holding out for a better Seadra to evolve, there really isn’t a reason to hang on to them.

If you don’t have any Dragon Scales in Pokemon Go to evolve your Seadra into Kingdra, you get a chance to find one every single time you spin a Pokestop, get your seventh-day spin streak reward, or as a reward from research tasks and potentially from gifts.

All of these different sources can build up and if you do these things regularly, you’ll probably have a few of them by the time you need them anyway.

Is there anything else to know?

There really aren’t other Pokemon options to use a Dragon Scale on in Pokemon Go so unless you’re debating which Seadra to use the Dragon Scales on, you’re best off just hitting the evolve button right away and getting the short animation over with already.

Seriously, not one other Pokemon in Pokemon Go uses it other than Kingdra.
