How to Get Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO: Global Research, Raids and Museums

How to Get Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO official Pokémon GO ESA event image

Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO is still obtainable through free World Space Week Timed Research on October 12, 2026. The worldwide one-star raids ended on October 10, but anyone who received the research during the event has until 11:59 PM local time tonight to finish the tasks and claim their Pikachu encounter.

There’s also an ongoing museum route. Six European science and space museums continue hosting Astronaut Pikachu raids until April 30, 2027. If you’ve got the global research already, there’s no need to visit Europe to finish it. The museums are where you can keep raiding the costume and hunt for a special Location Background.

How to get Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO today

Open the Timed Research section and check for World Space Week 2026. If it was added to your account between October 4 and 10, complete the five cumulative raid-win milestones and claim the final Astronaut Pikachu encounter before Monday, October 12 at 11:59 PM local time.

  1. Find World Space Week under your active Timed Research.
  2. Check how many raids you’ve already won. You need five wins in total.
  3. Battle any available raid bosses for the remaining wins. The tasks don’t require Astronaut Pikachu raids.
  4. Collect your individual XP and Stardust rewards.
  5. Claim the final Astronaut Pikachu encounter and catch it before the expiry time.

If you finished the five raids earlier in the week, collect your prizes now. The research and unclaimed rewards disappear after the deadline. Anyone who never received the free research during October 4–10 cannot newly obtain it during today’s extension.

Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO: all Timed Research rewards

The full research page asks for five total raid victories, not 15 separate wins. Each new win clears the next milestone. Here’s the complete reward list for Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO during World Space Week.

Task Reward
Win a Raid 2,500 XP
Win 2 Raids 2,500 Stardust
Win 3 Raids 2,500 XP
Win 4 Raids 2,500 Stardust
Win 5 Raids 2,500 XP
Final rewards Astronaut Pikachu encounter, 2,500 XP and 2,500 Stardust

Across the whole page, that’s 10,000 XP and 7,500 Stardust plus the costume encounter. Our World Space Week Timed Research walkthrough covers the five tasks in full.

Are raids for Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO still running?

Yes. World Space Week ran from October 4–10, so global one-star Astronaut Pikachu raids are no longer part of that event’s rotation. If you’re still working through Timed Research, other active raids count. You can finish the required wins without finding another Astronaut Pikachu raid.

After the global window, Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO remains available from six museum locations. Those are special in-person raids tied to the separate European Space Agency collaboration, not an extension of the worldwide rotation.

Where to get Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO after October 12

Between October 4, 2026 and April 30, 2027, the museums below have one-star Astronaut Pikachu raids. Completing a raid in person gives you a chance at a Pokémon with that venue’s commemorative Location Background.

Participating museum Location
Science Museum London, England
Cité de l’espace Toulouse, France
Deutsches Museum Nuremberg, Germany
Museu de les Ciències València, Spain
Space Expo Noordwijk, Netherlands
Euro Space Center Transinne, Belgium

For UK players, the Science Museum in London is the continuing option. The ESA’s ECSAT facility at Harwell took part in the shorter October 4–10 event, which has ended. It isn’t part of the six-museum raid schedule through April 2027.

How to get the Astronaut Pikachu Location Background

Visit a participating museum and beat its in-person Astronaut Pikachu raid. You then have a chance to catch one with the special Location Background. The background isn’t guaranteed, and the global Timed Research wasn’t advertised with a museum background.

Museum Timed Research also continues during the collaboration, with various event-themed encounters that may have backgrounds. Pokémon GO hasn’t promised a specific Astronaut Pikachu encounter from those museum research tasks. Our Location Background guide covers the museum raids.

Can Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO be Shiny?

Yes. Astronaut Pikachu can be Shiny in the global research reward and museum raid encounters. No boosted Shiny rate has been announced, so the free research is one chance rather than a guaranteed Shiny.

Why is my World Space Week research missing?

Check the Timed Research tab for the page and for completed rewards that haven’t been claimed yet. It was free worldwide from October 4–10, but October 12 is the final claim day for existing research, not a fresh distribution. If the research isn’t on your account, the museum raids are the ongoing way to get the costume.

For Astronaut Pikachu in Pokémon GO today, finish the five raid wins and claim your encounter by 11:59 PM local time. After that, the six museum raids remain available through April 30, 2027.
