Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Remastered was released in August 2020, bringing the first two games from the late 90s into the modern era with new graphics and updated mechanics. The game was universally praised by critics, earning an 89/100 score on Metacritic, you can also check out my review of the game that I wrote for Gamezo here.

Ever since its release, fans have been speculating as to whether Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 will be remastered, either as a package similar to 1+2 or individually. Now, it looks like we have confirmation that they are indeed in development.

In an interview with the Behind Closed Doors podcast, Jess Margera, drummer of the band CKY and Bam Margera’s brother, accidentally revealed that a remaster of THPS 3 is in development.

When asked by the interviewer about a musicians source of income, Jess said that,

“Now touring is your main income, and you really have to try and get licensing deals, try and get in where you can on video games or whatever, because that’s another way to make some money.”

When asked about whether CKY were ever in a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game, Jess replied that “Yeah, and I believe we’re doing the new one coming out too.”

CKY’s hit song “96 Quite Bitter Beings” was featured in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, which also saw the inclusion of Jackass star Bam Margera as a playable character. The song went on to become synonymous with both the game and skateboarding culture of the early 2000s, so it would be expected by fans to be included if the game is ever released.

While this isn’t an official announcement from Activision or Vicarious Visions, it is clear that Margera has knowledge and details on their music being licensed for a future title.
