Street Fighter V Winter Update – Check out Everything that was Revealed

Today, the Street Fighter V Winter Update event, presented by the game’s director Takayuki Nakayama, and its producer Shuhei Matsumoto, went live on the Capcom Fighters official Twitch channel, presenting players with the new additions and changes coming to the 5th season of the title.

We will now talk about everything that was revealed during the event. So prepare your headband, and get ready!

Rose Returns

On the presentation, it was revealed that Rose’s stage, ”Marina of Fortune”, will be a revitalized version of the stage present in Street Fighter Alpha 2 and will be released together with the character. It was also revealed that Rose will have a new anti-air move, called ”Soul Bind”, in which she uses her scarf to bind the opponent. 

It was also revealed that her move set will be a mixture of her already know moves and new additions, like a new selection of ranged moves, and her V-Skills and V-Triggers.

  • Her First V-Skill will have the ability to use a tarot card to strengthen herself and weaken her opponent.  
  • Her Second V-Skill is her already know ”Soul Satelite”.
  • Her first V-Trigger will be a warp move, with will allow her to move closer to the opponent, or at any point in the arena.
  • Her second V-Trigger will be her already knowability, ”Soul Elusion”, with allows her to create a copy of herself to assist in combat.

More About Dan’s New V-System  

Dan Hibiki also received a lot of focus in the event, where more about his battle costume, featuring an exquisite Tengo mask, was revealed. not only that but Dan’s V-System was also one of the events main points:

  • His V-skills will allow him to cancel his special moves, creating combo opportunities, and cording to Nakayama, the ability is the core of his playstyle. 
  • It was also revealed that when his V-Trigger II is active, His V-Gauge will become a V-Timer, and in that span, Dan will be able to use stronger versions of his special moves.

V-Shift and V-Shift Break 

Ryuichi Shigeno, the title’s battle director, revealed during the event that the new update will introduce a V-Shift System, a new defensive mechanic that can be used at the expense of one V-Gauge meter and can be used freely when in combat, making the player invincible against trows, body blows, and range attacks. 

If used against an enemy attack, the character will enter a slow-motion state, in with will be able to perform a V-Shift Break attack, that will allow him to counter his opponent in diverse situations. 

Shigeno also revealed that the developing team will be reevaluating each character individually and re-balancing the game to welcome the new features. 

An Exciting Collaboration 

Steve Aoki made a presence in the stream and revealed that his brand, Dim Mak, will be collaborating with CAPCOM to produce new Street Fighter merchandise. The DJ also revealed that to celebrate the game’s 5th anniversary, he made a remix of Ryu´s theme, which will premiere next week, during the CAPCOM CUP.

But When is the 5th Season Arriving?

It was revealed that the Season 5 first update, which will include Dan, the new system, and the new balancing of the game will be available on February 22. The update will also give players a new training stage for free. You can pre-order its passes right now.

To everyone’s surprise, it was that those that acquire the Season 5 Premium Pass or its Character Pass, will get the bonus character Eleven, for free.

Street Fighter V was first released in 2016, and in February of last year, its Champion Edition was released, presenting players with all previously released characters, stages, and a great variety of costumes.
