With Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3 being remade over the years, it is only fair to assume that Capcom could look to remake Resident Evil 4 in the future.

Resident Evil 4 has long been one of the most popular titles in the series, as well as being influential when it came to third person shooter, with some of its influence still seen in games today.

The original game was released in 2005 and has since been ported to future generations, with the game since being ported to platforms such as the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and even mobile devices.

Gamescom 2021 is right around the corner and a recent tweet from Capcom suggests that they could be gearing up to make the announcement at the event.

Capcom’s official Resident Evil Twitter account recently tweeted “4 Itchy Tasty”.

The tweet is a quote from the original Resident Evil game, with it being written in a diary entry from a gatekeeper.

But with the 4 highlighted at the beginning, could Capcom be hinting at Resident Evil 4?

Current rumors have suggested that the game will be announced before the end of the year, so Gamescom is a perfect time to do it.

However, it could also be referring to the upcoming VR port of Resident Evil 4, or simply be a tweet quoting an iconic phrase in the series.

It is also worth noting that the Capcom community manager Katastrophe stated on her Twitter account that the tweet was nothing more than the RE1 quote, and not direct hint or tease.

Gamescom 2021 will take place between August 25-27 and will once again be a digital only event.

During the event we can expect to see games such as Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, as well as a reboot of Saints Row.

The event will open at 2 pm EST/7 pm BST with a two hour live stream titled Opening Night Live where we can expect to see approximately 30 games be showcased, including the likes of Far Cry 6, Splitgate, Call of Duty Vanguard, and Genshin Impact.
