Nintendo Direct February 2021: Everything That Was Revealed

Hey all! We here at The Click are just as excited about the February Nintendo Direct as you are after 350 days of no Directs, so we’ll be updating this article live with each new Nintendo Direct update.

About the Nintendo Direct

Tune in 2/17 at 2 p.m. PT for a Nintendo Direct livestream featuring roughly 50 minutes of information focused on available games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and games coming to Nintendo Switch in the first half of 2021.

Smash Bros Ultimate: Pyra and Mythra

In a not too surprising first reveal, we see new Smash Bros Ultimate news! Pyra and her alter ego, Mythra, from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 join the battle! During battle Pyra and Mythra can switch off to assume each identity and use their own unique moves. Additionally, The Cloud Sea of Alrest appears as a stage, taking the players on a journey through Alrest on Rex’s titan surrogate grandfather. Interestingly, on the Smash website, the two are listed as differently numbered fighters.

New Switch Ports!

Evidently, the answer is now yes! Not much to really say without a confirmation of new Switch content, but Switch fans will be happy to have this exploding hit on their console of choice! The Outer Wilds, another big hit, is additionally making its way to Nintendo Switch. In terms of even more big games coming to Switch, Apex Legends is making its way to the Nintendo console as well!

We’ve got more news on classic games coming to Switch for the first time in America! Legend of Mana will be coming June 24th to the West. Three Ninja Gaiden games are additionally making their way to Switch in a Master Collection.

Tales From the Borderlands is making its way to the Nintendo Switch will all five episodes on March 24th! The newest Plants vs Zombies will additionally be making its way to Nintendo Switch in a complete edition. Hades is getting a physical edition for the Switch as well, coming with exclusive art and a digital soundtrack on March 19th.

Monster Hunter Rise

Today we were given yet another trailer for the new entry in the hit series Monster Hunter! Monster Hunter Rise, alongside a new Monster Hunter design for the Nintendo Switch and the Pro Controller will be making their way on March 26th!

Mario Golf

Its been seven long years since the last Mario Golf game on Nintendo 3DS. The series is coming back with a bang on Nintendo Switch! Mari Golf Super Rush releases on June 25th! In addition to plenty of Mario Golf’s boons, Nintendo showed off a new story mode with Mii characters.

No More Heroes 3

Travis Touchdown makes his return on the Nintendo Switch in No More Heroes 3. Fans have been waiting for this new entry for years, so a new trailer for this action packed series is a welcome surprise! We also got a release date of August 27th, so the wait is nearly over.

DLC for 1st Party Games

In a new free update to the most recent entry in the Animal Crossing series, items from the Super Mario Bros series will be making their way to your islands, such as outfits, warp pipes, and mushrooms. Get ready for their drop on March 1st!

Today, Nintendo announced additional content for Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity coming in two waves. The expansion pass will be released at $19.99 and we’ll keep up to date to give you any news about its contents in depth.

Project Triangle Strategy

Nintendo showed us a look at a brand new tactical JRPG that looks suspiciously reminiscent of Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler. The trailer spent time showing how player decisions will change the story of the game, supposedly in huge ways. As of now, the game’s title is not final, but the unique graphical style and combat looks like it will please fans of the tactical RPG genre. A demo will be available after the presentation and the game is slated for 2022.

Skyward Sword for Switch

Despite the director of the Legend of Zelda series telling us that we wouldn’t get Breath of the Wild 2 news until later this year, we were given a different surprise! Skyward Sword is making its way to the Switch after 10 years, titled The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD on July 16th!

We’re assured that the unique combat of Skyward Sword will be preserved through the use of the Joy-Con controllers in with additional control options for those who wish to use buttons only. Speaking of, a set of unique Joy-Cons is coming our way as well, based on the Master Sword and Shield!

Splatoon 3

In a surprising final announcement, Nintendo showed off a new entry in the Splatoon franchise which began on the Wii U. Both Splatoon 1 and 2 have seen great success as well as player and developer support, so a third installment is certainly interesting.

Let’s hope the series continues to give us the same action packed shooter combat fans have loved for years while bringing new and unique maps, weapons, and skills to make it worthy of its name! Splatoon 3 is slated for release in 2022.
