Remake or Remaster?

At the beginning of the interview, when asked if the game is a remaster or a remake, the developers were incisive: ”Diablo 2 Resurrected is a full remaster of the original game.”

They also explained how one of the biggest focuses in developing the title was in trying to keep as much as possible of the original in the transition to a new visual standard, while also adding a few bits to improve the experience.

Console/PC Differences

The game will play the same on both consoles and PC, with a few differences in its controllers and UI to adapt to the new platform.

Cross-Save and Cross-Play

During the interview, the developers talked about the game’s planned Cross-Progression, or cross-save feature, with will allow players to share their progress between different platforms.

They also made sure to inform that the game will not have a cross-play feature for its multiplayer, at least for the moment.

Will Diablo II Remain Online?

Yes, both Abrahamian, and Cederquist confirmed that the original Diablo II will stay on-line and operational on the legacy Battle.Net.

They also revealed that the use of the modern Battle.Net on the remaster will allow more security for players and more control for the developers to build upon the game.

Supported Resolutions

According to the developers, the game supports, at the moment, up to 4320p (8K) on PC, and runs at 4K/60fps on the next-gen consoles.

Importing Saves

Players can rejoice!

The interview also revealed that they will be able to import their save files from the original Diablo II to Diablo II: Resurrected.
