How to find Pinky in Terraria and why you’ll want to

Pinky is a rare Slime spawn in Terraria, so how to find it is quite a question to begin with, but the rewards make it worthwhile early game.

How to find Pinky in Terraria

Pinky is a rare version of the Slime enemy type in Terraria that you can find in the Forest Biome, as well as Underground and Cavern layer biomes.

Pinky is quite a bit smaller than the usual enemies in the game, barely being comparable in size to the player’s head. This can make it difficult to see in underground or cavern areas, making most encounters with the small Slime on the surface forest Biome where it’s harder to miss.

This makes it entirely possible to encounter Pinky right away at the start of the game, as I did with my recent game started to gather screenshots for articles on this very website.

The chance of that happening isn’t particularly high, but isn’t terrifyingly low either, as Pinky has a 1/180 (or 0.56%) chance to spawn instead of any normal Slime enemy whenever they spawn. Pinky can also replace Balloon Slimes during Windy day modifiers.

This particular method of spawning, replacing a regular Slime spawn, makes Pinky extremely likely to spawn multiple times during Slime Rain events. The best way to farm Pinky is to make use of these Slime Rains, but any method that spawns plenty of Slimes will likely find you a Pinky or two fairly quickly.

Why is finding Pinky useful?

Pinky is effectively a more durable, smaller Slime that gets thrown around easier due to having negative knockback resistance. So why is finding it useful?

Well, finding Pinky means you can kill it for Coins worth a value approximately equal to a Gold coin, though you can get slightly more or slightly less at random. This is worth 100 Silver coins, or 10,000 Copper coins. The only higher tier of coin present in the game is the Platinum coin, worth 100 Gold coins.

That is a lot of money if you find Pinky early on. It’s also enough to immediately bypass the requirement for the Merchant to spawn, so he’ll make an appearance the moment a free house is available following the death of Pinky, or immediately if a suitable dwelling was already available.

It also has an increased chance to drop the Slime Staff. Aside from those bonuses, Pinky also drops pink gel uniquely, which is useful for making Peace Candles, an item that can decrease enemy spawn rates.

There’s also an achievement for killing Pinky, and another achievement Pinky is required for.
