If you’ve ever made a sim in The Sims 4, you’ll know it can be annoying if one detail is even slightly off, so here’s an edit a sim cheat to help fix that very problem for you today.

How to edit a sim during gameplay in The Sims 4

If you want to edit a Sim in The Sims 4 during Live gameplay mode, you’ll be out of luck sticking to just the base game. However, there is a way around this if you’re willing to use the cheat console. If you’re set on being able to edit Sims, you need to access the cheat console using CTRL+SHIFT+C, then enter testingcheats true followed by cas.fulleditmode one after the other into the console.

The steps to edit a sim during live gameplay using this cheat individually are as follows:

Doing this won’t immediately enter edit mode, but it will allow you to access that screen when you know where to find it. All you need to do from here is click on your Sim, or any other Sim you’re looking to mess with, and then click the Modify in CAS button that now appears in their options menu.

If you can’t see the button at first, you may simply have too many context menu options to it to appear immediately. Make sure to cheat under the ‘more choices’ option if you don’t see the CAS edit option at first. You can also check that you’ve entered the command correctly.

This will take you to the full edit a Sim mode for The Sims 4 as you’d see it during the original Sim creation phase. You can now once through the power of a handful of cheat options edit your Sim (or any other Sim for that matter) however you desire once again.

Can I edit my Sim without using cheats?

If you’re not willing to use these cheats, you’re really out of luck as far as the vanilla game is concerned. Short of looking into mods that do this for you, you don’t really have any options left at that point

Even then, it would seem those mods really are just turning on the cas.fulleditmode cheat for you – so if you’re against using the cheat commands, those are out too.

Without using cas.fulleditmode either through manually entering the cheat or employing a mod that’ll enable it for you, the most about Sims you’ll be able to edit and adjust is their outfit unless it’s a brand new one you’re in the process of creating at the time.

This can still be useful if your problem is related to how they’re dressed, what jewellery they’re wearing, or perhaps their makeup and the like. If your issue is about their body, face or even hairstyle though, you’re out of luck with edit mode.

At that stage your best bet is simply running the cheat commands we’ve provided to get your edits done once and for all, then turning them all off again if you don’t trust yourself with them.
