Accessory items are crucially important in Terraria with all their bonuses, so here’s a quick tutorial on how to equip accessories you find.

Accessory type items in Terraria are a resource every player should be taking advantage of. When found, they can be equipped by dragging them over the third row of slots in the lower right-hand side of the screen and dropped into any of the slots below the armour section.

Accessories are most often found as drops, or in golden chests underground in Terraria. Once you’ve found one, just follow the process above to equip it.

You may also want to keep an eye on any accessory items that list ‘material’ in their tooltips. This typically means they can be combined with something else to improve the effect, or add entirely new effects.

Many accessories in Terraria are the result of these such combinations, fusing basic items together to make very potent multi-effect final tier accessory items instead.

You can unequip any accessories you want to swap out later whenever you desire by simply right-clicking on them, or replacing them with another accessory.

There is no benefit to empty accessory slots though, so even equipping niche and useless seeming items may provide a boost to you that you would otherwise have gone without. Some accessories will also have a cosmetic representation when equipped, which can be toggled off by pressing the eye icon, adjacent to their equip slot.

If you have an accessory that you like the look of, but don’t care for the effect it provides, you can place it into the vanity slots in the middle of the three columns of equipment slots available.
