Open World Pokemon is Coming With Pokemon Legends: Arceus

The Pokemon Company had their first Pokemon Presents event of the year today and it sure showcased some cool stuff coming to Pokemon. We got what is probably the biggest Pokemon announcement of all time which is Pokemon Legends: Arceus – what looks to be the first open world Pokemon game ever.

What is Pokemon Legends: Arceus?

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is an upcoming Pokemon game set in the early Sinnoh region and is the very first open world Pokemon game that we’ve seen so far. This game takes you on a journey to develop the very first Sinnoh Pokedex.

However, the game doesn’t just include Pokemon from the Sinnoh region, there are tons of Pokemon from other regions such as Cyndaquil and Oshawott.

Unlike the new Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes that will be developed by ILCA, Pokemon Legends: Arceus will continue to be developed by Gamefreak

When Does it Release?

Currently, Pokemon Legends: Arceus is planned for an early 2022 release date, but with so many games these days getting pushed back and delayed due to COVID-19, we would expect this to change at some point down the road.

Open World Pokemon?

Yep, you heard it right, folks. Pokemon Legends: Arceus is the first open world Pokemon game. Pokemon in this game live freely and openly within the Sinnoh region as the game takes place as the Sinnoh region is still just a vast wilderness.

In the game, you can catch Pokemon without needing to battle them as they are roaming freely in the wild, though you can battle them if you choose.
