Genshin Impact: What to use in the Parametric Transformer

Food items tab in Genshin Impact

The Parametric transformer in Genshin Impact is used to convert materials and some elemental energy into something hopefully more useful. But that begs the question, what are the best things to use in the Parametric transformer in the first place?

What items to use in the Parametric Transformer in Genshin Impact

If you’ve gotten your hands on the Parametric Transformer in Genshin Impact, you’ve probably wondered what items are best to use with this thing, likely before just throwing some random combination of semi-common items you don’t expect to need and forgetting about it at least a few times. I know I’ve done precisely that, repeatedly.

So I decided to look into it and share what I found. The result?

It’s not really that complicated, who would have thought. Some items, as shown in the fuel type section of the wiki page will increase the odds of obtaining rewards from broad categories of items; the reward categories as such are split between character EXP and talent books, Mora and Weapon Ascension Materials, and Weapon EXP or character Ascension materials.

With that in mind, this only increases the odds of getting things from that category. It doesn’t guarantee anything.

So what should you do? Well, as per usual you should probably avoid using anything from the Character Development items tab, given that these are usually quite hard to restock, or at least much slower than some other items and require a lot more effort. If you have a thousand Hillichurl horns, then sure, you can use those if you want.

Just don’t waste anything you’ll likely need to farm for in there.

One of the cheapest ways to power the transformer is to use cooking ingredients – these can be bought from NPC stores and are typically available in batches of 100 at a time. This makes these items perfect for use in the transformer, given that you’re basically just using mora directly to power it – and the roughly 10 seconds it’ll take you to buy enough of the given food item to do so, anyway.

Of course, you can also always clean out those food stores entirely, and get about 900 items in that very brief window of time, which will power your Parametric transformer for the next month and a half. It’s really up to you what you use in any case, it doesn’t particularly matter, but using cheaper and easily accessible resources is probably the best bet for a safe investment.
