Genshin Impact: Anime plot leaks and details

Last month, The official YouTube channel of Genshin Impact released a trailer for the anime adaptation of the game.
The adaptation is a confirmed collaboration between HoYoverse and Ufotable studio. In case you’re not aware, Ufotable studio is a Japanese animation studio responsible for bringing the hit manga series Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) in full animation to our screens. They also have the Fate/stay series, Tales of Zestiria the Cross, and more under their belt.
A month after its release, there have been few details of the plot. The trailer did give us a glimpse of Paimon and the siblings Aether and Lumine in the world of Teyvat. Recent leaks have provided further insight as to what the adaptation would likely be about.

Anime plot will be about the Archon War
The anime adaptation of Genshin Impact was officially announced back in the 3.1 Special Program release. Even then, there were just crumbs of details left for fans to trail what the adaptation would be about. There was also no information on the anime adaptation to be used as a platform. There were rumors of it being a series, but no substantial evidence was ever released to prove the claim.
A post from bbs.nga.cn, a popular Chinese discussion board gave hints on what the plot of the adaptation would likely be about. It was then later moved to a subreddit. A Reddit user named Liuuzaki translated the post and provided further details about what is likely.
“Here’s my translation:
News about the anime from marketing department. It’s the timeline before Aether and Lumine came. Archon War, one season for each nation (or region?) ? end of the war, arrival of Aether and Lumine (the scene in PV), adventure across the continent of Teyvat ? destruction of Khaenri’ah 500 years ago, then the opening scene of Genshin Impact.
The project has been running for 18 months. Currently 1/4 of the 12 episodes for Mondstadt are completed. Good plot, incredible VFX (???) makes you want to watch more”

The Reddit user did question the authenticity of the post. Despite this, the rumor has been circulating on social media. There has not been any answer from either HoYoverse or Ufotable studio regarding this matter.
Up to this date, very few details have been officially released after the trailer. There has not been any information as to whether it would be an anime series or a movie. No details were also provided as what the official plot of the story. Since the trailer showed the twins Aether and Lumine, there is enough reason to doubt the authenticity of the rumor.
MiHoYo is the official developer and publisher of the game Genshin Impact. It is an action MMORPG that was released in 2020.
Genshin Impact is available on PC, PlayStation 4, iOS, and Android, and in 2021 for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
