Fortnite Season 6, dubbed “Primal“, introduced wildlife along with a new crafting and taming system – here’s how to find and hunt wildlife.

Wild animals are present across the island. In order to locate them, players need to go outside the POIs (named locations) and cities, and into the wilderness.

Helpful hunting tips

A very handy tip to locate wildlife is to turn on ‘Visualized Sound Effects’ under audio settings. This enables players to see any sound effects of importance nearby, such as enemies and wildlife. For mobile players, this is enabled by default.

Another helpful tip is to use a hunter’s cloak when approaching animals. These cloaks can be crafted with one animal bone and one piece of meat, and they last for 10 seconds when equipped.

By doing this, the timid animals won’t run away and the aggressive animals won’t attack players as long as the cloak is on.

Chickens are the more common form of timid wildlife that can be found. Usually found close to POIs or in farms, they are easy to kill and harvest for one animal bone and one piece of meat.

They never attack players, and always run away from them. They can be chased, caught, and used to glide off of high places or do low-gravity jumps.

Frogs are another form of timid wildlife that can be usually found near marshy areas or water bodies. They can be killed and harvested for stink sacs, which are useful in crafting.

Boars are aggressive animals that can be found either in the wild or sometimes in fenced off areas in farms. When they notice players, they usually charge at them.

They can be killed and harvested for two animal bones and one piece of meat.

Wolves are the most aggressive of the entire lot of animals that can be found in the map. They are very rare, they always spawn in packs of three, and they attack on sight. They can be killed and harvested for three animal bones and two pieces of meat.
