Fortnite: How to craft items with bones and mechanical parts

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 is here, along with the version 16.00 update – here’s how to craft items using bones and mechanical parts.

Season 6 started off with an explosive cinematic showing Agent Jones (voiced by Troy Baker) going up against all odds to prevent the Zero Point from imploding.

How to craft in Fortnite

The new crafting system in fortnite enables players to craft certain items or weapon upgrades with new materials that are now in the game.

With the introduction of animals in Fortnite, animal bones can now be harvested from them to use as crafting material. Additionally, mechanical parts can now be harvested from all metal sources. Certain NPCs can also trade materials in exchange for gold.

The crafting menu is in-built into the inventory under a different tab. Depending on the platform, the keys to switch between the tabs may differ.

Normal weapons are now referred to as makeshift weapons ranging from common to rare. These weapons can be sidegraded or upgraded using the new crafting materials as well as existing items or weapons such as gas canisters, grenades, fish etc.

The further the weapons get upgraded, the more powerful they become. As of now, it is not known whether there exist any Epic rarity weapons that can be upgraded by this mechanic.

In addition to weapon upgrades, items can now be crafted from harvested animal parts. Along with animal bones, they drop animal meat, which can be combined with the bones to make a Hunter’s Cloak.

Here are some crafting recipes that have been found to get players started on the new crafting system.

Hunter’s Cloak: Meat + 2x animal bones
Primal weapons: Makeshift weapon + 4x animal bones
Mechanical weapons: Makeshift weapon + 4x mechanical parts
Primal Flame Bow: Primal bow + 1x firefly jar or 1x gas canister
Primal Stink Bow: Primal bow + 3x stink fish x3 or 1x stink sac
Mechanical Explosive Bow: Mechanical bow + 6x grenades
Mechanical Shockwave Bow: Mechanical Bow + 2x shockwave grenades

These are only some of the recipes that have been documented so far, it is expected that more recipes will be discovered in the coming days.
