Destiny 2: Season of the Chosen Brings New Weapons, Activity, Armor

Destiny 2: Season of the Chosen begins on February 9 and with it comes new weapons, a brand new activity, new armor, and a lot more. So what exactly is coming with the new season?

Guns

While we’re also getting some reprised Destiny 1 guns as well as some reissued previous Destiny 2 guns, the new season is also bringing us plenty of new weapons to chase after. Here’s a list of the weapons we know are coming to Destiny 2 in Season of the Chosen:

  • The Swarm (Machine Gun)
  • Palindrome (Hand Cannon)
  • Shadow Price (Auto Rifle)
  • Salvager’s Salvo (Breech Grenade Launcher)
  • New Trials Pulse Rifle
  • New Trials Hand Cannon
  • New Trials Sword
  • New Sidearm
  • New Sniper Rifle
  • New Rocket Launcher
  • New Auto Rifle (or Linear Fusion Rifle, I can’t tell)
  • New Bow
  • New SMG
  • Ticuu’s Divination (Exotic Bow)

Battlegrounds

Battlegrounds is the new seasonal activity coming to Destiny 2 in Season of the Chosen. In this activity, Guardians will engage in ritual combat against Caiatl’s (daughter of Calus) chosen warriors.

This looks like a fun activity and I’m excited that we’re getting a full fledged matchmade activity this season rather than a glorified (or less-glorified) Public Event.

Armor

We’re getting some brand new armor in Destiny 2 with Season of the Chosen including new seasonal armor as well as new Trials of Osiris armor sets for each class.

Hopefully we’ll also be getting new Iron Banner armor, but I’m not holding out too much hope.

Strikes

We’ve got old strikes returning and a brand new strike making its way into Destiny 2. Returning from Destiny 1, we’ve got the Devil’s Lair and the Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strikes, both of which are set on the Cosmodrome. The new strike coming to Destiny 2 with Season of the Chosen is Proving Grounds.

Set on Nessus, the champions of humanity face the champions of the Cabal to determine the fate of the Last City in the Proving Grounds strike. I’m glad that we’ve got new strikes coming since Beyond Light scrapped most of our options in the strike playlist, but will it be any good?

It looks like we’ll just have to wait and see if any of the new Destiny 2 content coming with Season of the Chosen is any good when it launches on February 9. Until then, I guess I’ll get back to farming my random roll Hawkmoon and still trying to get the Adored Sniper Rifle.
