Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on October 28, 2022. With a brand-new campaign and multiplayer mode, fans can expect a new era of the first-person shooter game franchise.
Activision previously released a trailer for the upcoming game which caused excitement among fans. If you’re as excited as we are and feel like October is so far away, you don’t really have to wait for the game to be released before you can experience it. Just like its predecessor, the game will be getting an Open Beta before October comes.
When can we expect the Open Beta for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2?
While the new first-person shooter game has a specific release date, there is currently no confirmed date for its Open Beta. However, we can always have a sound speculation based on the release dates in the past.
It can be recalled that Modern Warfare, the new game’s predecessor, had its Open Beta on September 19, 2019, which was a little over one month before the game was officially released.
Black Ops Cold War is another Call of Duty game that had its Open Beta, and before it was released in November of 2020, the Open Beta also took place one month before that, specifically on October 8, 2020.
However, while there had been approximately a one-month timeframe between the Open Beta and the game’s release in both cases, Vanguard had its Open Beta almost two months prior to its release with an Open Beta beginning in September of last year and the game releasing on November 5.
If the pattern continues, this means that fans can expect MW2’s Open Beta in September this year. But then again, this is purely speculative and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Once again, PlayStation gamers will receive earlier access to the Open Beta, with PS4 and PS5 users being able to play “at least 5 days earlier than any other platform.” So if you’re desperate to play the game first then you best pre-order the game on one of those consoles.
