Plot of the Druid Game Preview – Nostalgic Point-and-Click worth keeping an eye on

Adventure4Life Studios isn’t a name you’ll have seen about unless you’re very into your Indie developers, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be keeping an eye on it. If you like the classic point-and-click adventure games of old, then Plot of the Druid might just be the game for you going forwards.

It looks like it’s going to offer us that sweet hit of nostalgia we need after a jam-packed, mind-blowing E3 2021 full of flashy new Triple-A games. It isn’t going to be Battlefield 2042, but Plot of the Druid does have a single-player story mode. So, take that EA DICE!

What’s Plot of the Druid All About Then?

In Plot of the Druid, you play as a disgraced former Druid Apprentice who is, and we quote, “pulled into a perilous quest to regain his honour and save the world from a terrifying imbalance of nature”. For a Druid Apprentice, this all seems like a lot doesn’t it? The guy’s not even on active duty, cut him some slack!

As you continue through the world crafted by Adventure4Life, you’re going to be met with some comical situations that will require you to use as much wit as you do strange Druid Magic. You’ll need to make sure you’re keeping an eye out for ways to enhance your Druid abilities and any oppourtunity you can find to gain new special abilities in order to deal with the harsh world you’ll be facing.

It all looks quintessentially fantasy and sounds like a fairly standard narrative arch. However, we can imagine that Adventure4Life has a few tricks up its sleeves and we can’t wait to see what those are.

Not only this, but the voice acting is almost too bad it’s good. It sounds, frankly, hilarious and we can only imagine that the anachronistic voice of the protagonist is going to provide more humour than perhaps intended.

Some Key Features

This modern point-and-click adventure has been inspired by the classics. Adventure4Life Studios namedrop LucasArts and Sierra Games as two of the inspirations and describe it as “Simon the Sorcerer meets Rincewind with a Monkey Island vibe!” It’s certainly a lot to live up to!

  • Laugh Out Loud
    • Sarcastic British humour that will have you giggling and cracking up. 
  • Choice of Approach 
    • Human or animal… What’s the best way to solve a given puzzle? You will have to decide! 
  • Flexible Difficulty
    • Two difficulty levels to choose from in order to provide a fun and challenging experience to all players regardless of their experience.
  • Magical Outcomes
    • Use elemental spells of nature to deal with epic evils or just minor irritations. It really depends who you ask…
  • Beautiful Voice Acting
    • Be staggered by the dozens of wacky characters, ALL fully voiced. 
  • Wide World
    • Explore the fantasy setting to your heart’s content, with many objects to point and click on!
  • Chocolate Goodness
    • Yes, you read that right! There are lots and lots of easter eggs in this game.

Kickstarter Details

At the moment, Plot of the Druid is Kickstarting development in an effort to fund the full game. However, you can actually playtest a demo section of the title for free on  Steam or Itch.io right now!

The Kickstarter Campaign is going to offer up a physical copy of the title with a lot of cool goodies. There’s even a chance to appear in the game yourself if you’re one of the higher-end backers. It’s worth checking out the Kickstarter Campaign in any case, as every little helps with these sorts of projects.

Adventure4Life Studios has lofty aspirations for Plot of the Druid and there’s a lot that they want to do with this game. Could it be the revival of a long-lost genre? We’ll have to wait and see.
